Why is Collingwood Town Hall in Abbotsford? edit

The City of Collingwood was incorporated in 1855

The Town Hall was constructed in 1885-1887

The City of Collingwood was then divided into 3 Wards on 31 May 1887. The Ward of Collingwood, Ward of Abbotsford and Ward of Clifton Hill.

Collingwood Townhall was positioned outside of the Ward of Collingwood, but still within the City of Collingwood.

Collingwood Town Hall was never within the suburb of Collingwood, as Abbotsford was first subdivided in 1839 and such only ever existed within the City of Collingwood municipality.

In 1994 the City of Collingwood was abolished and suburbs of Abbotsford, Clifton Hill & Collingwood were incorporated into The City of Yarra Archer.mb (talk) 00:32, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
