Collage or Student nation? edit

The article on college does not list a (modern) meaning for the word that would fit this institution. This sounds more like a student nation. -- Petri Krohn 10:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is a college in the medieval sense, as at the University of Paris until the French revolution, and as the colleges that still exist at Oxford and Cambridge (allowing for regional differences). The Wikipedia "college" article is all crap and nothing to go by. There were four nations in medieval Bologna, as there were in Paris, but this is not one of them. up+land 10:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
In the Studium already in XII century there were more than 30 subnationes more and less each with its College. The spanish were divided in natio Hispanorum and natio Cathelanorum (mainly to count more on the elections, which counted by nations and not by head). Not all the spanish were hosted in the Colledio di Spagna. --Biopresto 10:49, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
