40 Crucis edit
40 Crucis is apparently the Oasis Star, with a star cluster, NGC 4609, located at the Coalsack's visual location. 70.29.209.121 (talk) 13:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

William F. Warren edit
An 1885 book on its author's theory that Atlantis and the Garden of Eden were both located at the north pole does not seem likely to be an up-to-date, reliable source for either astronomy or anthropology. --Chronodm (talk) 17:40, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Distance edit

Intro and images edit
Intro:
" ... the bright, southern pointer star of the southern cross. It dominates and overspills the southeast corner ... "
"It" here technically refers to "cross", the nearest preceding singular noun or pronoun (though some may read this as referring to Acrux) - but the intention seems to be that "It" should refer to the Coalsack. Maybe re-word the text to " ... the bright, southern pointer star of the southern cross. The Coalsack dominates and overspills the southeast corner ... "?
Images
Several structures (e.g. LMC, SMC) are identified in the image taken from Cerro Paranal - but not α crucis, which is mentioned in the text. It would help readers if α crucis was identified. Maybe Yuri Beletsky could oblige?
The Coalsack seems to have the same orientation in the two photographs in the Gallery, but the orientation of the first image in the article seems to be different. Any chance of re-orienting it, if it is different?
