Record high

The 52.3C is obviously a lie. The 25 January 1989 Villa de Maria Rio Seco recorded 33.9C not 52.3C as you can see here:

I fixed the error of the record high temperature. Campo Gallo did not record 52.8 C, which is a lie; its 47.3. I prefer using the 48.9 for Rivadavia as many sources, including the World Meteorological Organization recognizes it as the highest temperature. I think the World Meteorological Organization is more reliable than the Servicio Meteorological Nacional since they can perform quality checks and have a panel of experts for doing so that SMN might have not catched. It has not been the subject of ongoing dispute and we should use it rather than self-published sources or the SMN. Ssbbplayer (talk) 02:11, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Tornadoes vs tornados

I saw this edit to the article, and was curious, so did a little investigation. According to Wiktionary, either tornadoes or tornados is acceptable as the plural form of tornado. According to Merriam-Webster on-line, [1], both are acceptable. However, a Google search shows three times as many results for tornadoes as it does for tornados, and the Wikipedia article on Tornado uses tornadoes. So, I think it should be Ssbbplayer's choice which form to use. Corinne (talk) 22:21, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

I would suggest using "tornados" rather than "tornadoes" just for consistency and to avoid any confusion. For example, the map is required to say "Pasiilo de los tornados" and not "Pasillo de los tornadoes" because it is the correct term in Spanish. I did a Google search and another thing I find out is that for "tornadoes", virtually all the sources are in English but when "tornados" is used, some sources are in Spanish. Unfortunately, tornado climatology is not well developed outside of USA, it is hard to say which term is better on the basis of the number of hits. Ssbbplayer (talk) 22:34, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Entre Ríos Province is generally considered to be part of Mesopotamia (it does have a warmer climate than the Pampas) while San Luis Province is usually part of the Cuyo Region by most sources. The others are okay and should be kept since much are based on political borders with the exception of the Chaco (also called "chaqueña or región chaqueña") and the Pampas region which are natural regions. I searched up regions of Argentina and there are numerous definitions. Here, they are based on the ones that the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional uses in their monthly climate bulletins.

I moved the citations such that they are not repeated. It does become complicated for sentences involving 2 or more citations and I left it there to avoid it being challenged and to ensure that if vandalism occurs, it can be detected rapidly. Check to see if I did not remove any crucial citations (form an unsourced statement).

It refers the fact that in terms of mean seasonal precipitation (in this case winter) around the country, the highest amounts are found in those respective places. I changed sentence to "The highest are in the extreme northern part of the littoral region and northwestern parts of Patagonia, where mean winter precipitation exceeds 250 mm." It is not the precipitation maximum in this region in winter but refers to that the winter precipitation recorded to be maximum in this region of all.

After checking the source, I think they are mentioning the provinces and or regions in general that constitute Argentina (political divisions), and not the island itself. For example, they mention Neuquén, Salta, and Tucuman which refer to the provinces in general. They usually do not monitor temperatures on the Chilean side and I often see this in their climate bulletins. The better way would to say Tierra del Fuego Province rather than Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. I changed it to Tierra del Fuego Province for clarification except for the citations where the title cannot be changed (that is what they decided on their title of the article. Sudestada is the Spanish language term for strong southeasterly winds. In the sources that I have used, they mention the English term (southeasters) and the corresponding Spanish term (Sudestada). I linked it as the section lacked any links to the article.

I think government and scientists is the best term to address the "whom". For the glaciers, since it is from a review article, scientists is the best term. The 2nd national communication to that the government of Argentina prepared to the United Nations about climate change indicated that they were too dry in the middle of the 20th century. Moving content about "climate change"

I am proposing to move some of the content that is currently in the section on "climate change" to the other article called Climate change in Argentina, so that only one paragraph or so stays here. Perhaps even to use the excerpt function from the abstract of Climate change in Argentina. What do you think? EMsmile (talk) 09:30, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

@EMsmile: If you can summarize it in one paragraph (provided that the information is sourced), that would be good. I would not recommend using the excerpt function from the abstract of Climate change in Argentina as sometimes, that page may get vandalized or has unsourced information. I've taken another look now and found that the entire 4 paragraphs that are there are also already included in the article Climate change in Argentina (with some small language adjustments; I am not sure which text is the "older" one). What I suggest to do now is ot remove those sentences from here that are perhaps too much detail for this overview article, so that in the end only two paragraphs with the main information remains, and the rest is to be found in the linked article Climate change in Argentina. Does that sound reasonable? That means I won't attempt to "summarise" the 4 paragraphs into one but decide what is more important to be kept here. EMsmile (talk) 02:25, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

I have removed some of the sentences now, as discussed above. I think even more should be taken out. After all, what is the point in having a sub-article on Climate change in Argentina if we are repeating here 4 paragraphs from that sub-article?
