RM vs village edit

I moved this article back to its present location due to the fact that the article was not about Clanwilliam, Manitoba but rather about a whole rural area. ( I also moved correspondence from user talk that occurred prior to my moving this article back to the original title. ) Stormbay 22:17, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Clanwilliam,MB. vs. RM of same name
  • Hi! I noticed your recent edit on the above topic. I could be wrong but I don't believe that Clanwilliam is even in the Rural Municipality of the same name. In any case, they should/could potentially be two separate articles. Maybe not! Thanks! Stormbay 02:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I had started a bit of a standard in the matter of dabbing when a community and RM have the same name, with the rural municipality being located at "Name, Manitoba (rural municipality)". For example, see List of rural municipalities in Manitoba. We should standardize on one dab convention. Qutezuce 23:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I live in Clanwilliam and notice you state it as part of Erickson. I have been there too and it is nowhere near Erickson and is definitly not part of the community. If you would like that proven to you then come and visit the town.--kitsumiti 19:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation note edit

I disagree that the note is not necessary. A search of "Clanwilliam" directs to a town in South Africa. I don't think that this would be the intent of most people. The barony of Clanwilliam predates all other towns and fish species by hundreds of years. It is entitled to a first place, but this was "robbed" by the South African town taking the Wiki name first. The note is clearly necessary. I propose to undo this deletion unless somebody can convince me otherwise. Laurel Lodged (talk) 20:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

See my reply at Talk:Clanwilliam, barony, Tipperary. A reader visiting the page Clanwilliam, Manitoba is not likely to expect to find any of the other various Clanwilliams. - htonl (talk) 22:00, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation edit

The r.m. has been moved back to its original page. I left the talk pages as is for now. It needs an admin, I believe. Go to Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam for the R.M. I've done the best that I could here. There is a general mess from trying to have a naming policy for the R.M.'s which is confusing and (sometimes) just wrong. --Stormbay (talk) 22:51, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
