2007 merge proposal

edit

I agree with a merge. This article does not merit its own article.Azerbaijani 21:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it should be merged. Grandmaster 07:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, I completely disagree with merging this artilce to Baku, because this article entry is not about Baku proper, but about Baku's nickname. Then Why you do not merge Big Apple and Big apple to New York? There is the Precedent, and according to this precedent I created this article. so I think we should remove that merge proposal from the entry. Elsanaturk 00:09, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
All of this is discussed in the Baku page though. It got this nick from the original Persian name for the city, this is all already explained in Baku: The name Baku is widely believed to be derived from the old Persian names of the city Badu-kube, meaning "city where the wind blows". This article is completely unnecessary. Also, two of the sections currently in the article have nothing to do with the nick name.Azerbaijani 01:06, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
there IS PRECEDENT! Big Apple and New York Elsanaturk 01:20, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal

edit

I propose merging City of Winds into Baku. Everything in this stub is already covered in the main article's etymology section, and the other two sentences about mythology and air quality are unsourced, and should be not kept. This article right here serves no purpose as there is nothing notable to cover about this nickname other than that it is the city's nickname, which means that just describing the nickname in the etymology section of Baku is fine, as is done right now. I will also add that this article's content has not been edited since 2020, and the last edit was in 2021 to the short description. Paul Vaurie (talk) 05:29, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes. There is simply not enough content about "City of Winds" to justify a separate article. — Golden talk 08:35, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
