Rewrite edit

The rewrite is partially complete. There are many more details to be added. But unfortunately I do not have the time at the moment.
The rewrite of the article was requested bij the WP, article as it stands, I feel, does justice to the subject. JHvW (talk) 13:00, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Duke of Wellington edit

I have altered the link to the 2nd Duke of Wellington's article, changing it from Lord Wellesley - he had become Duke on his father's death in 1852, before the purchase of land he owned by the cemetery.Cloptonson (talk) 18:38, 3 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Location of the Cemetery edit

The author describes the cemetery as being in the London Borough of Newham. But checking its location on maps and a reference to it in the article on St. Mary Woolnoth Church in the City of London (where it is stated that bones in the crypt were transferred to Ilford), I believe it should be located in the London Borough of Redbridge.

The cemetery is not mentioned in the article on Ilford, but that article points out that Little Ilford was in West Ham and this is where the confusion may have arisen.

I would appreciate if this problem was considered promptly.

The boundary of the cemetery is a northern 'tongue' of Newham into Redbridge, see: Open StreetMap. I telephoned the cemetery office (0208 5302151) over the query you raise, and they confirmed they come under Newham. Thanks. Acabashi (talk) 12:01, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
There are quite a few cemeteries in this area. A mention of an author is made in the question. I may have originated the article, but I am not the author, that is not the Wikipedia way. But I would agree with the cemetery office that the cemetery is considered within the Borough of Newham, although I am not sure of the exact boundaries of the Boroughs. But I am sure that it is not like St Pancras and Islington Cemetery, a cemetery which is operated on the behalf of the boroughs of Camden and Islington but is located in the Borough of Barnet. Manor Park has its own cemetery (quite close by) which may also lead to confusion. JHvW 00:24, 20 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
