Alastair Campbell

It has often been repeated that Campbell went to 'a comprehensive' state school. This is possibly an impression he has fostered himself, for 'spin' purposes. Whatever the source of the story, it is untrue. Although those such as Gary Lineker, who were there at the time of changeover, entered a grammar school and left a comprehensive (and may therefore be considered to have attended both), no such ambiguity exists with Campbell. He left the City of Leicester Boys School (commonly referred to as 'City Boys') in June 1975, at which time it was still a grammar school. Grammar school pupils

Alistair Campbell, in the year above me, and Mick Creedon, in my year, attended City of Leicester Boys' Grammar School. The school had not turned comprehensive before we left in 1976.

Gaps in the curriculum

"The college provides education for ages between 11-18 for different levels from GCSEs to BTECs in a wide variety of course but specialises in Business, within the college each day consists of five different periods the student is split up into from which most lesson will be an hour long but some lessons may be provided to the student as a double lesson, the school opens at 8.25 and is closed at 3.10 and provides students with a half hour break and 45 minute lunch."
