New CityCat picture?

Fleet Size?

Is somebody able to confirm or provide a reference for teh size of the fleet? the article says that there were 6 City Cats in 1996 and 8 in 1998. I lived in Brisbane between 1998 - 2001 and was sure that there were only 5 at most for most of that time. Towards the end of that period a additional boat was brought into service. I had heard that this was a vessel which had previously been in service but which sank and subsequently had to be restored/repaired. The article goes on to say that two more vessels were added to the fleet post 1998. Could it be that there were only 6 vessels between 1998-2001 (including the sunken one) and that the extra two makes 8 in total. Also, are the 'RiverTigers' referred to in the article the same as the boat in the second picture? -- Adz 03:05, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

My understanding is that the intial order was for 6 citycats. Following the success of these a further 2 were built. There are slight differences between the first 6 and the later 2 such as the provision of buoyancy aids (carley floats vs lifejackets). I am not aware of any of the vessels sinking. RiverTigers

A new generation of CityCat ferries is being trialled, and while their official designation is unknown at the time of writing (October, 2005), their occasional appearances on the Brisbane River have given rise to them being colloquially known as "RiverTigers".

Based on the fact I've heard noone at all use this phrase, I'm assuming the author was referring to the 2nd gen Cats. Therefore, would it be better to remove the references to RiverTigers? --Bunza 11:53, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I concur - the only use of the term seems to be related to this page. Unless somebody can say otherwise I think removal is a good idea as its not verifiable. SM247 05:26, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

CityCat stopping pattern

Anybody think this page merits a table analogous to the railway articles e.g. Beenleigh railway line, Brisbane? (connecting buses/trains, connections to the CityFerry/Cross river services etc). SM247 05:02, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

It would be an idea, even if only for the terminals and bus connections. Would this mean new articles for each destination ala railway stations? --Bunza 11:58, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Seems like a good idea, but instead of cluttering the table with the bus route numbers and rail routes on there (it's a bit different from the railway line articles), just listing the nearest rail or bus stations could do to keep it simple. --Arnzy ^{(whats up?)} 13:26, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Bus routes are probably OK as there are only two or three connections at most wharves e.g. Hamilton - 300/302. The most I can think of is Regatta, and you could just link the Toowong station and bus routes pages. The inner city stops would be the same, except link South Bank/Cultural Centre/Central/QSBS etc. If anybody wants to do this, be careful about using the CityCat timetable as the bus connections shown are out of date.

I would suggest the format "Riverside Ferry Wharf, Brisbane" or "Riverside Ferry Terminal, Brisbane". SM247 21:45, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

CityCat Fleet

I noticed the fleet info for the CityCats did swamp up the pages a bit, especially squashing the wharves template?.. perhaps move that to a separate page? --Arnzy ^{(whats up?)} 06:53, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Maybe take the Westernised/Aboriginal names out of the infoboxes and put in the text of the article to reduce the length of the boxes. Or array the boxes side by side either above or below the route box. SM247 21:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Running over the Rowing boat

"This was highlighted when in 2005 a girls' high school rowing crew was run over. The rowing boat was snapped in two but the CityCat was relatively unscathed."

I think this is a little unfair - Considering that The Boat(From St Marys Anglican Girls school) Was running without lights, as it is legally required to do at night on the Brisbane river among other things, but This doesn't really say much about that - the way this reads, most people would assume that they were just run over in the middle of the day. I'm unsure of how to word the fix, but a little more detail would be good. 58.106.49.58 20:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

CityCat top speed

I was told by a crew member aboard one of the second generation CityCats that their top speed was 30-34 knots, but they were restricted to 28 knots on the river. Is there any more info on this?

Apollo Road Ferry Wharf, Brisbane

Isn't the Apollo Road Ferry Wharf, Brisbane missing in the table of wharves? The article Bretts Wharf Ferry Wharf, Brisbane points to it as the downstream terminus. Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:17, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
