Your information on Circus World is not entirely correct. I worked for Circus World from November 1974 to September 1977 when it was a privately owned company started by Sydney Rubin. I'm not sure what year he sold the company to Rite Aid as I was not employed with them at the time. However I was employed later with Playland Toy Stores out of Valdosta, Georgia, a company originally started by Richard Wilson. Mr. Wilson allowed the company to be aquired by Greenman Brothers in an efort to further expansion. Up to that point he was able to use capital form his existing stores to finance new ones, without borrowiing money. He recognized that he would be unable to continue expansions without help, and he sold the company to Greenman Brothers who subsequently forced him from the business. I was still working for Playland when Greenman Brothers aquired the Circus World stores, and I was asked to move to South Carolina where I was given a district to manage of four Circus World stores and four Playland stores. The existing Circus World stores I took on were badly managed and in various states of disrepair, choked with old unsaleable merchandise, and facing many problems with outdated technology. The stores were also run in the same manner as the Rite Aid drug stores, forcing the managers to spend much more office time than was needed, and less time on the floor selling to customers and maintaining inventory. Unfortunately, due to the fact that there were many more Circus World stores than Playland, Greenman Brothers forced all stores to adopt the more complex Circus World methods rather than the simpler Playland system. The money Greenman Brothers were forced to pay out to upgrade the Circus World stores after paying to purchase the chain, plus the money they lost liquidating unsaleable merchandise, resulted in less operating capital to purchase merchandise for the 1986 Christmas selling season. This I feel resulted in declining sales, and resulted to the demise of the chain and it's subsequent sale to KB Toys.

Interesting paragraph, but needs to be sourced / referenced. Could be considered WP:COI, although I'm inclined to think more WP:FORUM or perhaps WP:OR. I put most of it back, only removing some of the 1st person narrative. still needs the referencing added properly. Ched (talk) 17:34, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Article does not reflect earlier history of Circus World

Circus World dates back long before 1985. When the store opened locally in 1970, it was called Child's World but later was renamed Circus World. Steelbeard1 (talk) 16:00, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
