This page contradicts itself in that it ascribes the fathering of Adonis to both Myrrha AND Myrrha's mother.

This page is confusing in that this page and another page claim to be the father to Myrrha. Theias —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.202.84 (talk) 01:44, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The opening statements of the entry don't have supporting references. 'Galatea', Pygmalion's statue, was an ancestress of Cinyras yet wasn't given the name Galatea until the c.18. The musical contest seems a version of other stories such as that between Apollo and Marsyas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SarahAnnesBrown (talkcontribs) 09:10, 10 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contradictions between different versions of a myth or genealogy are current in Greek mythology. However, this article doesn`t properly differentiate these versions, nor does it cite its sources. I wasn`t able to find any references to the version of the musical contest related here (and I`m studying Classics). Needs heavy revising. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.226.95.191 (talk) 13:13, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

It is incorrect that Kinyras does not reappear between Homer and Pindar: there are fragments by Alcman and Tyrtaeus (7 century) and Anacreon (6th); also, the episode of the terracotta fleet very probably appeared in the lost epic Cypria, since it is also summarized in the Epitome of Ps.-Apollodorus, where the coincidence of multiple episodes with Proclus' summary of the Cypria supports the attribution (hence it is included among the Cypria fragments by M. L. West in the most recent Loeb edition of Greek epic fragments.
