I’m opening a thread (or at least trying as I’m on mobile as I’ve had problems trying to open talk page threads before) on the current image. I believe it’s better to have an image (even in poor quality) than to leave the infobox without an image entirely, as when an image for a member of the European Parliament exists it’s better than to just leave the infobox blank. Pinging @Boardwalk.Koi: per this as they do not necessarily agree. Welcoming all opinions on what to do in this situation. ser!(chat to me - see my edits) 01:30, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I removed the image based on my reading of MOS:LEADIMAGE, particularly this section,
Lead images should be natural and appropriate representations of the topic; they should not only illustrate the topic specifically, but also be the type of image used for similar purposes in high-quality reference works, and therefore what our readers will expect to see. Lead images are not required, and not having a lead image may be the best solution if there is no easy representation of the topic.
I don't think a blurry webcam photo meets these standards.
This isn't a hill I'm willing to die on so I'm happy to leave the image in place until a consensus is reached. Boardwalk.Koi (talk) 14:02, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I get what you're saying, I just think we're worse off without any image at all. I agree the image isn't fantastic, but I wouldn't interpret "no easy representation" as precluding us from including this - ultimately it's a reasonably recognisable image of the subject. If anyone else has this page watchlisted or stumbles upon this discussion I'd love to hear their input so we can form a consensus on this. ser!(chat to me - see my edits) 14:40, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Obviously a poor image but I think it will do until a better one comes along. Spleodrach (talk) 18:54, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
