Removing "People"? edit

It seems to me that this long list of people whose first name is "Chuck" should be removed from this disambig. Such "named" folks can be found easily enough with a search, and an article on "Chuck" should contain people or things that are referred to as chuck and chuck alone, since Wikipedia is not a directory and disambiguation pages are not search indices. Any thoughts? I'll give it a week, and if nobody objects, trim the page.  ◉ ghoti 18:32, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, done. Please see WP:D#Lists rationale.  ◉ ghoti 14:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Chuck"... Norris? edit

Does anyone think that Chuck Norris should be mentioned on this page? I mean, isn't he sometimes referred to as just "Chuck"? I just wanted to make sure before I just put it on there. --Superpika66 (talk) 23:19, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

restoring Other section edit

Given WP:NCP#First name only and looking at some other nickname pages for guidance (e.g. Pete, Larry, Mike), I've restored the non-name Chuck articles to this page and redirected Chuck (disambiguation) back here. Is there a compelling reason to ignore the naming conventions and common practice and split the two lists? -- Intractable (talk) 08:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

That conflicts with WP:MOSDAB guidelines. Disambiguation pages typically should not contain lists of people by first name unless the person is commonly known by the first name only. They also should not contain non-disambiguation content about the name, such the {{Infobox given name}} template. olderwiser 13:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
PS, if you want to propose removing the list of names and the infobox, with a simple reference to Charles, that may help. Without any sources or substantial content about the name, such lists of people that share a first name are unencyclopedic. olderwiser 13:12, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I missed WP:MOSDAB. I agree wrt keeping the name stuff in Charles or if there's enough material to justify an article Chuck (name). --Intractable (talk) 17:49, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
