Article Quality Problems

edit

This is an extraordinarily strangely-worded article, one that seems to be drowning in POV problems, but I am not remotely an expert on any of the subject areas covered in this article so I would hope that someone with more experience in comparative religions, history of South Africa, etc. etc., could give this article some TLC (or, in the alternative, nominate it for deletion). For some examples,

"It is a pity that the church, which Christ established as an institute on earth, became so depraved throughout the course of the centuries that it had to be broken away from to found a new church."

"Firstly, we are sad that church schism had to take place at all, because the Lord rightly prayed for unity among His followers."

"It humbles us and makes us dependent on God’s forgiveness."

"They experienced the overwhelming blessing of the Lord."

"We praise the Lord that He kept His hand on these events, in the midst of the sadness and grief that accompanied the schism, even in the midst of that which did not please and honour Him. May He enable us, now that we are here, to be church to His honour!"

This article also suffers from a serious lack of citations and, given the highly unusual format and nature of its writing, may be a giant ball of plagiarism. I'm not qualified to answer any of those questions so I'm running a flag up in the hopes that a more experienced editor can apply the correct tags here.

Removed origin.

edit

The section titled Origin was extremely badly written, further up the talk page one can find an old complaint about it dating from 2017, yet nothing was done about it.

  • The section was written from an extremely subjective framework (seemingly that from an Catholic Scolar). Some entire paragraphs contain virtually no factual information about the church but only function to express the author's point of view
  • Of the remaining content, most of it centers around the Biography of one D. J. de Vos and is berely related to the church itself.
  • Many of the statements made in the section are very ambigiuous. ie " ... namely the Dutch Reformed Church, the Dutch Reformed [Hervormde] Church and the Reformed church. The CRC originated from the first of these three.". It is extremely unclear which churches the author is referencing. the Dutch Reformed church usually the english name of the Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk, but the second named church is also specifically identified with the lable "Hervormd".
