The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus supports moving Christopher Greaves to Chris Greaves (Canadian football), and redirecting Christopher Greaves to Chris Greaves, which will now be a dab page (closed by non-admin page mover) Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 05:42, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
Chris Greaves (cricketer) → Chris Greaves – unnecessary disambiguation as this is the only Wikipedia page titled "Chris Greaves" Joeykai (talk) 22:56, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, paired with Chris Greaves → deleted to make room for move. The two entries, Chris Greaves and Christopher Greaves, can point to each other via hatnotes. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:00, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support but I would pair it with Christopher Greaves -> Christopher Greaves (Canadian football) in addition as it seems dubious that the distinction between Chris and Christopher is enough to warrant two completely different articles - the cricketer is just the primary topic. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:13, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- Since, as the nomination points out, "this is the only Wikipedia page titled "Chris Greaves"", we can also posit that the other entry is the only Wikipedia page titled "Christopher Greaves". Thus, neither entry needs a parenthetical qualifier. As an example, the currently active nomination of Christine Goodwin/Christine Goodwin (activist)/Christine Goodwin (politician) at Talk:Christine Goodwin#Requested move 6 July 2024, also brought attention to the existence of Chris Goodwin and Christopher Goodwin whose entries point to each other via hatnotes. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 08:49, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. The football player is known as "Chris" in the article's cited source.[1] Move to Chris Greaves (Canadian football), with Christopher Greaves redirecting to the dabpage at Chris Greaves. 162 etc. (talk) 04:03, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support, this page can just have a note at the top pointing to Christopher Greaves for the football player as per the first comment. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 06:54, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose and move Christopher Greaves to Chris Greaves (Canadian football). And redirect Christopher Greaves to Chris Greaves. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:25, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Comment. It does in fact appear that the WP:COMMONNAME of the football player is the same as that of the cricketer — "Chris", rather than "Christopher". I am thus amending my above 7 July vote (and follow-up comment) and will now oppose Chris Greaves (cricketer) → Chris Greaves and support, as the alternative option, the move of Christopher Greaves → Chris Greaves (Canadian football), paired with redirecting Christopher Greaves to the Chris Greaves disambiguation page, per 162 etc. and Necrothesp. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:18, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
