One small problem with merging...

edit

Sorry, could someone merge this with Chris Birchall? BobbyAFC

...which direction?

I looked at the official sites of both Port Vale and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation, and they don't agree on what to call him.

Port Vale consistently calls him "Christopher". T&T consistently calls him "Chris".

I'm ready to start a vote on which direction to merge to. I'll put a note on the Chris Birchall page in case anyone looks at it. — Dale Arnett 02:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Obviously they must be merged as they refer to the same individual. No-brainer.70.19.23.6 02:29, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Merge - Probably into the one where he is most likely to searched for through. More Port Vale fans or T&T fans ? Bevo74 23:52, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

It should be changed to 'Chris Birchall'. Both sets of fans, both Port Vale and T&T consistently refer to him as Chris Birchall. 100% sure on that.--Griff24 12:29, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

First white player to score for TT?

edit

I don't believe this statement to be correct. For example, from socawarriors.net

26-Feb-1947 Jamaica 0-6 Trinidad & Tobago (Friendly) Sabina Park.
SCORERS: Ken Galt 2, Gerry Gomez, Putty Lewis, Noel Winn, Lionel Lynch.
SQUAD: Joey Gonzales, Popo Simmons, Ian Seales, Prior Jones (capt), Lionel Lynch, Randolph Merritt, Johnny Huggins, Gerry Gomez, Rex Burnett, Putty Lewis, Malcolm McLean, Syl Dopson, William Baird, Noel Winn, Ken Galt, Andy Ganteaume.

Gerry Gomez was white, and if memory serves me, so is Ken Galt. Guettarda 23:21, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Retirement?

edit

I've just removed this, added by 212.19.90.47, as there's no citation and I can't find anything on Google News to back it up:

Birchill has now retired from International football following the World Cup, claiming that the travel to the Trinadad training camps was disrupting his life too much at present. He has not ruled a return in the future. -- Arwel (talk) 14:03, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Source?

edit

"Birchall became the first white player to represent the country in sixty years" - where is the source for this statement? --T.M.M. Dowd (talk) 21:28, 3 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's mentioned in reference 7 from the article, but it was also widely mentioned in press reports around the 2006 World Cup. -- Arwel Parry (talk) 22:22, 3 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
