Thanks for this interesting info. I have lived in Chita for a while and was unaware of the declaration of the 'Chita Republic' but, putting two and two together, I think the monument to those who were shot on Titovskaya Sopka is actually at the foot of the hill- the photo on the page is of the new shrine further up the hill.
