Pest In California edit

Why is the Chinese hamster considered a pest in California? Caps lock 19:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because it is a rodent. Rodents aren't considered to be pests. Should you buy two chinese hamsters together when they are both female? Do they like having a partner? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.97.157.229 (talk) 12:48, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Neutral Point of View flagged edit

This article uses personal pronoun 'I' in the section about Hamster housing, and states many opinions without references in the sections "Housing", "Interconnecting Hamster Housing" and "Litter and Bedding". These sections are also un-encyclopaedic, reading more like a personal recommendation page regarding Hamster care.

I would also suggest that this information is more relevant to the general Hamster page, rather than this page about Chinese Hamsters and needs to be Wikified!

Question about dwarf edit

I thought the proper name for them was Chinese Dwarf Hamster.

Is it proper to simply call them Chinese hamsters? Or is there no difference?

Thanks. --Thatpeachgirl7 (talk) 01:23, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dwarf hamsters only refer to the social phodopus (sp?) species. So no, it is not proper to call them Chinese Dwarf Hamster. Solri89 (talk) 21:02, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hamster vs. hamster pedantry edit

There is no consistency between the capitalisation of 'hamster' in this article, should it be Chinese Hamster or Chinese hamster - my guess is the former but what is the correct version. If a consensus is reached this should be standardised. In fact the o of ovary is capitalised which doesn't seem right - if the intention is to emphasise the origin of the o in CHO maybe this would be better seved by simply underlining the letter? The ovary issue is on the CHO page which equally has these problems Azo bob (talk) 15:01, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

confusing text edit

"quite a few biotech drugs are still being produced by putting the gene for the protein into Chinese hamster ovary cells (CHO cells), which then produce the protein"

what protein? also, this part of the sentence does not follow the part preceding it. Acgator09 (talk) 23:44, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Chinese hamsters clinging to your fingers edit

The article calls it endearing. I've seen it referred as that in other articles also. Well, it's not endearing to the hamster. The reason they cling as they do is because they are terrified of falling! Out of all the different hamster species I've owned, they are the absolute most terrified of falling.
