I am unsure about the best source to cite, but I know there is a lot of weird dubious information in circulation. This source is from a major veterinary school and presents a list of fresh vegetables which are safe to feed pet chinchillas. Extinction?

"Their use for fur led to the extinction of one species": I can't find any evidence to support this statement. No third species is listed anywhere alongside C. chinchilla (= C. brevicaudata) and C. lanigera. Myopic Bookworm (talk) 10:55, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
