Ian & Gido

edit

Recently I found sentences in Ian's section of the article talking about how many think that he is (quote, unquote) "HOTTT!" while some diss his looks. I also found a sentence in Gido's section saying how some wish she'd fall off a cliff onto very pointy rocks (which is disturbingly mean). People, this article isn't about your opinions of each of the Chess Pieces. Keep it relevant and informative.

I'll have some words with that contributor and try to talk some sense into his apparently thick skull. If it's to be recurred, perhaps one simple blocking will do the trick. Profet 666 04:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Phantom Glass

edit

Isn't Phantom Glass, Phantom's ÄRM, supposed to be a Darkness ÄRM? Mmm122 22:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not. The official site has it of the Unique category. What do you mean, 'supposed', anyway ? 222.252.80.120 13:00, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was thinking that because it said the on MAR Heaven Journey. Mmm122 20:43, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, to put it simply, it's advisable that we don't follow the site through and through. It's still a FANsite, not official, with all its content fan products and doesn't possess authenticity. I myself just added it as a reference link for its anime infos, and I have to check (almost) everything myself to affirm its accuracy before adding it.

Some of the ÄRMs MAR Heaven Journey translate isn't as exact as ours (I mean what we have out there), for example, they did /Ramia/ 'Lamiar', while we 'Lamia', and everyone knows which is the better. The reference link tells. Profet 666 10:37, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Weasel?!

edit

Is it true that the Knight of the Chess Pieces Vidar is called "Mr. Weasel" in the English dub? I don't remember him ever being called that, & the name sounds silly, but for people to keep putting him down under that name, I'm beginning to wonder if there's some truth to it.

That's what it says in my manga. - The Norse 22:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ghost Chess

edit

Are the Ghost Chess from the filler arc of the anime the same as the Zonnen? If not, then I feel they should be noted here. 72.68.56.138 03:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC) N. OxydeReply

no they are not, the Ghost Chess appeared later and they were stronger. but at the moment there have only been raw episodes up to that far into the series, and while most of us can't understand Japanese, we can't add any information of them to prevent false understandings. it would be good if those who understand Japanese watch the raw episodes (by mean of downloading it, i've just checked on youtube.com and they were all deleted) and contribute everything they could have heard. Profet 666 09:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alright. Do you know which episode numbers the Zonnen appear in? Perhaps we could mark that. Also, I say that we make the Anime differences a little more noticable in the summaries, so people don;t get confused. 172.145.67.151 05:02, 11 February 2007 (UTC)N. OxydeReply

i think it's episode 49. yeah i've been thinking about that too, but if you just add them all in out of the blue it will pretty much return to the messy state it was sometime before.... i mean, the manga-anime divergence seems to have started in the recent episodes. major changes are being made, so personally i'd like to wait longer... perhaps until the series ends, then we make all those clear, and edit them (we can even make seperate articles, so we can emphasize on the differences). that is to say, when the RAWs end. the subs are taking longer than expected, and we can't actually wait all that long.

why yes, and this too: when you edit the ARM section, could you set them in the following order, Weapon - Nature - Ghost/Holy/Darkness (whatever you like first, but make sure the rest follow the same order) - Guardian ? it looks better that way. thank you. Profet 666 07:55, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The ghost chess are actually a manifestation of the ORb of Darkness's powers.... that's all I know.--Arquebusier 16:35, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please write it orderly. And personally speaking, I don't think that's correct. I myself have watched the episodes and since then pondered on the truth as to their identity. I've read everthing I could search out, and none of them stated that the Ghost Chess has anything most remotely to do with King. Truth be told, their identity are more closely connected to the Queen rather than King. So please don't add anything to the article, unless you want to affirm foul mouths out there saying Wikipedia now doesn't provide accurate information. 222.254.30.9 08:33, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chess Pieces article notability

edit
From User talk:Sandstein

Hello, I'd like permission to remove your notability tag from Chess Pieces (MÄR) on the grounds that it's just another "List of Characters" article identicle to the ones most other articles on fictional stories have. Is this okay? - The Norse 22:07, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. You don't need my permission, but that's not a convincing argument. Why, specifically, is this fictional organisation notable, i.e., what reliable substantial third-party coverage does it have? Also, the WP:A problems are the more serious ones. Sandstein 23:14, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was asking because they're usually readded after I get rid of them anyway. Anywho, this fictional organisation is notable because it plays the role of the main and only antagonists in MÄR, a decently popular anime series. This article was created because the main article became way too cluttered with character profiles so it was split off into a seperate one, the main reason why all Character List articles are made. - The Norse 01:02, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please forget about notability for a moment. This article has no sources at all. Please provide some reliable sources to which all the content can be attributed, or else it will be a candidate for deletion soon. Sandstein 07:30, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

.. i've added the sources for references. Please see to it that the edition matched Wiki standards, and correct if it needs be. Profet 666 12:27, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to add the {{notable}} tag back to this article. The sources listed simply don't meet the WP:RS test -- they're fansites. Obviously some editors have put a tremendous amount of work into this article, but unless it can be backed up with verifiable, third-party information, it's going to get deleted. --Nonstopdrivel 23:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Translations

edit

i've edited the name 'Magical Rou' back to 'Magical Lou', for i find the second translation makes better sense than the first, taking into account this character is a clown. See the article Lou Jacobs for more information.

And the translation for the name of that Knight, Vidar, or Pizel as someone recently put it. I've consulted the Japanese official site for the hiragana translation, and it literally pronounces Uizaru. For this kind of name both translations make sense, but i'd still like to put it 'Vidar', for the mythological association with Yggdrasil (although they weren't by any means connected). As for questions about the bird Guardian name, i've checked the same source and found that it literally pronounces Buriideinbado so i've changed in into 'Wooden Bird'. If you find that incorrect, please correct it, since my translation skill is just above average. Profet 666 05:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

i've edited the Guardian-Weapon 'Ariu Majuu' to 'Allu Mage', and i've even left the reference link for that. Check the site out before editing, i think it's the most accurate translation. Same for Lemures and Wakan Tanka.

and from now on, please leave a reference link there/post it here so all of us can check before editing anything. And DON'T edit if you can't find anything similar or just read it off some scanlations, they're not always accurate as you think, i'm tired of editing over and over. Profet 666 07:21, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

again *rolls eyes*. the Magma Snake is not an ÄRM, it's just another metamorphose ability of Stone Cube. Profet 666 10:14, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

'Allu Mage' back to 'Allu Majuu' again, the 'majuu' katakana has been ringing quite a bell lately. It's originally the romaji of 魔獣 (majū, lit. "demon beast]] (Majuu), quite a common concept. Profet 666 10:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ash's Dimension ring is named "Eingang" - actually, it's the closest I could find. The name is German for "entrance". Profet 666 03:14, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

I see that you've added some images into the article, and may I ask, have you really read my notes on the episode list article ? If you haven't, it was clearly stated that I won't approve of anyone using any images I upload without asking me first. If you have, then don't do that again. This is for my sake and for yours.

As for questions as to why I don't upload other images for more character, it's as simple as this: I don't think it neccessary. You've already had all images you need for the major characters, why would you need more for minor ones, such as the Rooks and Bishops and all ? Those you add image for were dismally minor ones, at that. 222.254.30.9 08:47, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images you upload to Wikipedia are for everyone. Stop acting stingey. - The Norse 15:13, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

On behalf of all image uploaders on Wikipedia, I express disagreement with your statement which, instead of grounding for any constructive point, has spoken your unprofessionality. May I assume that you've never really taken notice of Wikipedia image policy, or particularly in our case, the fair use image policy ? Once the image's tagged with the fair use tag, ANY USE OF IT ON WIKIPEDIA OR WHEREVER MIGHT BE COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENT, which you just did. I have the images for the episode list article, and therefore they are meant for that article only, not anywhere else, even if it's another MAR article.

On behalf of myself, I'm astounded at your bizarrely besotted obstinacy. In short, almost all character sections other than the Knights are very short, how would it look if you place a 200-px image there ? And most of the sections you demand images for are minor characters' sections, and it's irregular that they, too, have image. Have sense, will you ?

Profet 666 11:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, now I think about it, on account of the roles and the ranks, none of the Chess Pieces outside Knight class should have pictures. They're still way minor. Don't be let down, you can't have pictures for every section (will this be a constructive contribution to the article, anyway ? Or do you just want pictures for your own likings ?). In many other articles, almost none of the "less major" characters get pictured, as well, though I daresay they take up more screentime than the subject in those sections you request pictures.

If you can state a sounder reason than just one based on your likings (with little regard to the article), I will definitely get pictures for them. Profet 666 11:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

And did I see a masked Kouga image in his section ? *rubs head in discontent* How many times must I repeat myself ? NO USE OF (MY) EPISODE LIST IMAGES OUTSIDE THE ARTICLE, please. I've warned you on the Phantom, Chaton, Loco, Pano, Kannochi images, and that means for the rests. I never said anything about Kouga or whoever else doesn't mean I allow you to abuse them to your heart's content. Do you not get the message ? (again, sorry if I wrongly accused you. Never saw the pic myself, just catch a glimpse of it when I was editing the article) Profet 666 11:15, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I disagree with you.

1. They're not your images once you upload them to Wikipedia, they're for everyone and can be used however other users see fit.
2. Some non-knights should have their images displayed, Loco, Chaton and Pano are featured a lot more in the series than a throw-away enemy like Kouga and have actual roles. - The Norse 15:47, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

well finally someone goes speak to me.

1. Am I missing something of the fair use rule ? Check this tag for yourself, it's what I added to every picture I upload. Do note the "Any use of it on Wikipedia or elsewhere might be copyright infringement" part.

Need I now add a fair use rationale for the pictures, even ? Please spare me of that tiresome task by paying some respect to the fair use tag, could you ?

(and in case I'm indeed missing the particular "Everyone can use it however they see fit" part in the policy, beg pardon for my discourtesy. But how would it look to you if a 200 px image is added beside a one-sentence section ?)

2. I'm well-awared of the fact that there actually exists some Rooks/Bishops who play a more important role than the Knights. But:

- This might not sound good, but again, minor characters with more major roles not imaged aren't just here. Many other articles have it. Never mind this, just one stubborn head on my shoulder.

- Those "actual roles" you spoke of, they're not actually all that major, are they ? Just personal opinion again.

- It doesn't look all that right if Pano & Loco, two Rooks get pictures but lvl.1 Bishops like Emokis or Hamelin don't, now does it ? don't tell me Emokis & Hamelin should have picture, they're about just as major a character as Kannochi or Maira.

Anyway, in appreciation to your correspondence, I will have the Loco & Chaton added. But Pano ? well honestly, just where do you see she plays an "actual" role besides flirting around with Jack and being one of the few Chess Pieces who survived King's annihilation ? Profet 666 03:56, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hm, that tag is confusing. On one hand it say it's for use on the English Language Wikipedia but on the other it says it could be copyright infringement to do so. Let's just go with the former, seeing as how I've seen the same picture used in multiple articles before.

Anyhow, I'm just going by the logic that since we already have the pictures, there's not much point in not using them. Pano's section is big enough so that a picture won't be too obstructive to things around it, plus her role isn't much smaller than Chaton's. I think you can reduce the size of images if need be anyway. - The Norse 04:08, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

As for your experience, are you sure all those images were uploaded by the same person, or the uploader gave permission for its free use on Wikipedia ? Perhaps we should really study the image use policy site O.o

About the rest, your "trying not to waste any uploaded pictures" style can sometimes come very close to image abuse, you know. And what's with "not using" ? They're used in the episode list article. Unless there are dumbasses out there telling you they're so burdened with the thought of using images of such high quality for so mundanely restricted an article that they feel it's a duty to distribute them for more, better deserved articles O.o

Okay, then I guess one step back on me again. Pano's added. (don't take advantage of my patience, though...)

P/S: Same rule for the rest of the images until we can make this policy crap clear. I've seen the Emokis image, mind you.

Profet 666 05:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

k, the article's image amount is about perfect right now so there's not much point arguing anymore. Maybe I should ask an admin or something about this image/copyright business for clarity though. - The Norse 18:21, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you do, could you give me the name of that admin ? There's also something I'd like to ask. 222.252.84.119 10:47, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Editions

edit

Those sections one just added into the article regarding characters not shown in the anime series, please don't go re-add them until you can state the resources for your contributions.

Personally speaking, I think we should discuss further on this before you add them in. The Knights section clearly states that there're only 13 Knights, and you adding some more in might cause confusion. Is this really that big a news to add in ?

And Kannochi is a Bishop, it's stated in both versions so (I'm not sure of the anime though, will go check on it). Don't reduce his rank again.

Please quit making comments like "Foolishly, he doesn't carry a weapon blah blah blah..." (Maira's section). Do you even take it to your heart that Wikipedia's an online ENCYCLOPEDIA ? I hope we won't return to this topic again, just you would remember how they write encyclopedias. Profet 666 10:37, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

SPECIAL NOTICE

edit

1. I object to the ÄRM sections in the Bishop downward sections. Didn't we once agree on the main article's discussion that there's practically no need for trivia characters' ÄRM ? It's taking up space, so I delete it.

2. I will make a seperate article for the Zonnen after all these exams are over. Now it just appeared to me how it blemishes the article to miss an article on them.

3. This is in case you spare no eyes on the Images section. What's with changing Chaton's picture back to her episode picture ? This looks to me like the work of some ignoble self-claimed Wikipedians who can't wikify a honest day's work in their pitiable lives anyway, so I will overlook it this time. But dear diligent Wikipedians, together we should see to it that this dishonorable vandalism will not muddle the article again. For I have fits anytime I witness this.... I mean, well, don't you ?

(and I'm gonna be into hell fire next week, the examinations will start that time. Not sure if I can stay on watch 24/7)

King's ÃRM

edit

Anyone has any idea as to the origin of King's gigantic blade ? I've tried every sources I can muster, but to no avail. Certain types of sword were forged in that shape's similarity (the spiked blade, to be exact), but it looks to me like the sword has a direct reference. 222.254.30.16 08:08, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

What about Girom? He plays a more important role than Kouga and Pinnochion did and they have pictures. I have to give their Knighthood credit for it, though, but if they weren't Knights they'd be complete Trivia Characters. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Artist Formerly Known As Whocares (talkcontribs) 20:20, 28 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Not seconded. As the story develops its later half, it turns out Girome has little to no significance to the plot - his feud with Ginta ended the moment he got his ass handed to him in the 2nd War Game. The minor akt before Lestava castle akt in the anime was with Pinocchio and Kouga together, and that hardly counts. Girome is just after all one Bishop to get more screentime tantamount to minor Knights the likes of Pinocchio and Kouga.

And while we're at it, mind you I don't think there's any need to say "his only ARM, the Guardian Vacua" (yeah.. if you think it Vaqua, go edit in the ARM article too..) in Maira's section. Alibaba uses just one Guardian too, and we never bother to notify it, so I don't see why Maira should be.

Halloween's ÄRMs

edit

You probably haven't watched or read the translated versions of Halloween and Alan's battle. As revealed in Volume 13 (out in English now) some of the abilities you listed under Flame Hand are actually different ÄRM, so I fixed it. And the explosive Pumpkin one would be a Guardian ÄRM because it summons these creatures, not flying Jackolanterns. Artsit Formerly Known As Whocares 15:57 (Eastern Standard Time), 19 May, 2007

Ah, yeah... always knew somehow it would come to this. I've watched the scans, but there were so many to it so yeah, just leave it hoping someone else would fix it. Also I figured some of that 'ÄRMs' you mentioned could actually be just be other functions of the ones listed there.

and your edit summary. Don't you mean 'translated akts' ? As far as I'm concerned, the English subs only has 54 eps til now.

Next time, please add the ÄRM name in a better order. Didn't I once suggest that ? Profet 666 02:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Debatable new editions

edit

Firstly, the Rolan section. I don't think 'Magma Snake' is an ÄRM (even the official site has it wrong, I presume). Whenever an ÄRM is activated, the stone engraved on it would shine. And when Rolan summoned the Magma Snake, his Stone Cube ÄRM shone. Also, at the time, he didn't have any other ÄRMs on him save for 2 rings: one was the Stone Cube, and the other later turned out to be the Rapier Whip. Any question ?

Secondly, Vidar section. That ÄRM which one classified as a Nature-typed he used for midair stands, didn't it come from the Yggdrasil tree ? Profet 666 02:11, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No. At that time, he was using Bird of Rotten Wood, so he just left Yggdrasil standing there. And after Jack burned both the bird and tree, the leaf was still there, while it would have been destroyed along with the tree if it was from Yggdrasil. And I also believe Magma Snake is the same as Stone Cube. Also, isn't it possible that the two ghost ARMs Chimera has that transform her arms into mouthed creatures are the same one, but create a different creature per arm?
Also, I don't really see the need to keep 'Healing Angel' under Ian's list. He gave it to Snow, so it's no longer his. I'll leave it up, though, in case anyone objects.Artsit Formerly Known As Whocares 11:32 (Eastern Standard Time), 20 May, 2007.
Did he ? Then it was another ÄRM. About Chimera's ÄRM, I'm not sure about it. It's just that we either see her have 2 monster hands and presume she has 2 Ghost ÄRMs, or see Peta gave her 3 ÄRM (one of them was probably the eyeballs she decorates her face with) and assume the other two are those arms. Profet 666 01:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kouga

edit

I disagree with the statement "Kouga is one of the Knights not having their histories explained to a certain extent". As far as I'm concerned, only Phantom, Halloween, Rolan and Chimera have good backgrounds. The remaining Knights, either not having a solid background at all (Ash - loving children hardly counts, Vidar - this goes without saying, Ian - does his love interest have anything to do with this ?, Pinocchio and Peta - that time with Phantom doesn't count), or having very little explained (Rapunzel, Kouga, Lou, Candice). Kouga's case is nothing so significant you have to specifically state that for him. And mind you, in the anime he DOES have a background (though little explained). Seems like he was bullied as a kid because of his terrible looks or something) Profet 666 03:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images (Again)

edit

Ummm, doesn't it seem that 21 images is a bit too many for an article that's techniqually a sub-page, or even a regular article? Especially if they are non-free images. Mabye we should lower the number of images we have on this article. My proposal is:

Definite Keep
  • Emblem
  • Diana
  • Peta
  • Halloween
  • Rolan
  • Ian
  • Loco
Discuss
  • King
  • Chimera
  • Galian
  • Ash
  • Candice
  • Rapunzel
  • Chaton
  • Pano
Aren't very needed
  • Phantom (better place being article)
  • Vidar/Weasel
  • Magical Lou
  • Pinnochio
  • Kouga
  • Gido

Either way, it would be a very good idea shortening our image usage. A few of the admins and someone who isn't one have been going around the anime articles removing large numbers of images, as can be seen with the Naruto articles (one article was put up for deletion because of the image problems). Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 19:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fine

edit

Okay fine, if we can't include images anywhere besides their articles, then I'll make ones for Diana, Ian, Halloween, Peta, Chimera, Ash, Rolan, and Loco, and mabye Candice, as they would be above stub. Only them, however, the rest would have to deal with being image-less, with a slight possible exception from King. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 21:52, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seconded. Profet 666 06:53, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll plan on going in this order: Loco (mainly because she's my favorite character and the only important one below Knight), Chimera, Ian, Diana, Halloween, Peta, Ash, Candice, and Rolan. While I'm not on, (My parents feel they need to "limit" my computer time -_-) can someone please continue the pattern? I'll usually be on after today from about right now for two hours. Also, any names crossed out means they have had their articles made, so please cross out the character should the page exist. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 19:27, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh joy, a ton of spinoff articles just for the sake of images. I'll give them two months tops before they're merged back into this article citing the same reasons the Pokemon and Naruto character articles were haphazardly crammed together. - The Norse 00:48, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Don't count your chickens before they're hatched. I don't know about Naruto or Pokemon (though I do admit my discontent with merging an article the calibre of Itachi Uchiha), but within the limit of this series, those named Chess deserve their own articles - each of them plays a prominent role in at least 2 arcs of the series's 4 major akts: pre-WG, WG, Ghost Chess akt and King akt (not very much sure about Chimera however, but we can't mould her background & development into a tiny section without desecrating our own pride as editors).

If the articles are to be eventually merged regardless, well, that's because some anonymous nitwits deem them minor beside the main characters (who insistently act through 4 whole akts as main characters ever do). Either way, regret for something we did is better than regret for something we didn't do. Profet 666 06:40, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Viard/Pizel/whatever's name

edit

This is really getting out of line, the constant changing of his name all over the article. We should just vote to see what name we should use for him. I vote Vizard. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 14:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to my friend's Viz-translated manga, the name is Vizel. Profet 666 10:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Mine was "Weasel", actually. Mine was also from VIZ. Vizard, however, fits him more perfectly and is apparently the Japanese name, but due to how hard translating the languages into the other could end with some mistranslations. On a side note, they probably changed his name because of religious references, like Halloween's cross. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 19:46, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chimera's picture

edit

I'm currently working on the Chimera article and will edit a better one over it in a few days' time. As was the Peta article this one will also be tagged with both her masked picture and unmasked picture. Along with the masked picture, I think I will upload her Eileen pic also; do you like a sucky looking one but with both Marco and Eileen in it or a good looking one but only Eileen in it ? To cram on Wiki another non-free product just for the sake of the article's looks is against my morals, but a past image won't hurt so I want to give her one; and if I'm gonna give her one I want it both gorgeous and informative. I couldn't make up my mind however, so I'm asking for your opinions. Profet 666 12:42, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I guess I'm stuck too. There's only one thing to do! (pulls out of hat the one I'll choose) Do the one with only Eileen. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 23:19, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Beauty FTW! Roger. Profet 666 06:02, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
We should also work on the articles for Ian, Rolan, Loco, Team MAR, Phantom, Diana, Caldia's Orb (rennamed article, BTW), and the others. Nanashi should be done last, as, outside of references, his is fine enough already. Also, we should shorten plot like Chimera and Nanashi's articles do (I made Nanashi's long because he is in obht series), and I've already started to do Phantom and the Orb. Re: Name again

edit

Artist, isn't the game in Japanese ? And shouldn't anything in the series' original language be more canon than English manga/anime/whatever ? I admit, the site refers to Alan as 'Aran' and we all know only retards would use such name, but 'Lauren' sounds good enough. Profet 666 12:47, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

A) The Japanese translation is Roran without any edits.
B) Rolan is the official English translation, and, unlike Naruto or Bleach, the names are not Japanese names aside from Koyuki, Ginta, Danna, Nanashi, and mabye a few others I'm missing, so there's no way to translate it into English and retain the original meaning.

Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 19:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have no question whatsoever regarding the official English translation. The Japanese name is Roran, I know, but that site was in Japanese yet it has him Lauren letter to letter. Did you by the way notice the URL toolbar thing I mentioned earlier ? I doubt they would make up a name for him so that could have been the original name. Whatever I think it deserve a note in his article. Profet 666 06:00, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
As long as we don't change the name of the article, I'm fine with it. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 00:47, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

quick question for those who've watched the whole anime

edit

the article has some confusing double talk so i was wondering, when the anime ended did all chess pieces get revived? also is the revival only in the anime or is it in the manga too. Supremecouncil —Preceding comment was added at 16:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Let's get this over with

edit

Okay it's like this: in the Chess Pieces and War Games article we have Vidar for the 6th strongest Knight and Magical Lou for the 8th strongest Knight. However in the ÄRM and Manga article instead of their names we consistently have Vizel and Magical Roe, and most amusingly in the Episode article we have Vizel and Magical Lou altogether. I propse we decide on one consistent version for each already, so I can outright revert any outrageously discrepant change from now on. Unless we can ascertain the original version, that is.

I advocate Vizel and Magical Roe. I know I supported Vidar and Magical Lou before, but it appears to me people are more acquainted to the two former. And I'd also like to change Girom into Gillom(e). This, like Lauren - see this for more information, is apparently the original name but unlike the uncommon Lauren, I think we can edit it without any specific concern. After all, Girom was practically as debatable as Vidar/Magical Lou (I myself have seen versions like Girome, Giromu, etc.). Profet 666 09:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I say Weasel, Magical Roe, and Girom, the official English manga translations. As there are only a few names which are directly Japanese (Ginta and Nanashi being the most obvious), it is very difficult to translate them. As such, let's just follow what VIZ says. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 20:05, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think I prefer Gillom, but since you said that.. well. Perhaps I will just have to add a note in his secion.

And also I would like to have a word with you about one of your latest editions.

All Chess Pieces above the rank of Pawn, with the exception of the King, are given earrings to signify their rank. These earrings of the Chess Pieces are actually Dimension ÄRMs that allow them to communicate with other Chess Pieces. [1] The Cross Guard uses the same method.

Did I not specify, just a few lines above, that

Chess members from Rook ranks upward is permitted the possession of class earrings, individual masks, and/or hooded robes

so except for the Dimension earrring part, your edition practically serves no purpose. And what's with "with the exception of the King" ? Every random note made about the Chess' hierarchy operation specifies only "Only Rook class upward is allowed earrings" - there was never anything about "King class is exempted from earrrings". That was just his whim, and since when is one's personal whim allowed into a general code ? Just add it to his article. Profet 666 01:38, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merges

edit

I have recently merged Ash, the Zonnen, and the Ghost Chess, and removed the unmentionable character from the page. We should list them only in the wikia. Other merges could happen to others. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 19:25, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
