Surname - Chen or Shen?

edit

According to the Xiandai Hanyu Cidian, 谌 as a surname could be read as either Chen2 OR Shen4. Chen Long's name on his national sports jersey gives us CHEN. So case closed. 15:03, 20 August 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.91.180 (talk)

Thoughts on labelling him as one of the greats for men's singles badminton?

edit

Chen Long was undoubtedly one of the greatest men's singles player to have ever graced the court, I get that people may see it as biased and a subjective manner, but if Taufik Hidayat is allowed to have the title of "One of the greats", why can't LCW or Chen Long? You can add those statement if it was conveyed by an expert and supported by a trusted source, and put the source in the article. Stvbastian (talk) 02:33, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was said by Gill Clark and Greg. But for some reason when I tried to add it referenced someone reverted it. + The ref for calling taufik Hidayat one of the greats isn't even conveyed by an expert. Hongkongpenang (talk) 09:39, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nevermind it appears it's by Yonex themselves, was looking at the wrong source. Hongkongpenang (talk) 09:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Read the BLP policy, you will find your answers there.
Article must adhere to the biographies of living persons policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. Take extra care to use high-quality sources. Material about living persons should not be added when the only sourcing is tabloid journalism; see more information on sources. Never use self-published sources about a living person unless written or published by the subject; see WP:BLPSPS and WP:BLPSELFPUB. Oahdi (talk) 03:49, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Do me a favour and bugger off, you won't even accept a BWF source. Hongkongpenang (talk) 09:38, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
You provided no sources to begin with and yet you are mouthing off at others. Maybe try to learn a thing or two about how Wiki policies work before showing any disrespect towards fellow editors. Oahdi (talk) 12:18, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I put on a source by BWF and you reverted it, who do you think you are? Internet warrior. Hongkongpenang (talk) 16:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I reverted your edit because you did not provide inline citation to back up your claim, which is a clear violation of Wiki policy. Quoting Gill and Steen as seen here (in bold): "He is considered, and has been described by Gillian Clark and Steen Pedersen, as one of the greats of men's singles badminton." without inline citation is not considered as providing sources. If you still have doubt, I suggest you refer to citing sources and referencing for beginners to have a better understanding of the importance of inline citation for verifiability.
