Mount Abuye Meda

I am not absolutely sure, but I doubt that Mount Abuye Meda is part of that woreda. I spent almost two years in Kemise and I always thought that the border of the woreda is somewhere in the wide valley of the Borkenna. As far as I know is Mount Abuye Meda a tall mountain which you can see from Kemise situated on the other side of the valley. Since the woreda is part of the Oromo zone and the mountain is definitely outside the zone and inside the Amhara inhabited area, it is difficult to believe it being a part of the woreda. IIRC, I located the mountain here based on its latitude & longitude as checked against some maps I have. Unfortunately, some maps are less accurate than others. (But I'm glad to have someone with personal experience of the area like to you to check these inferences & guesses.) There are some maps on this site: http://www.svt.ntnu.no/ethiopia/b02REFAM-publ.htm especially that one: http://www.svt.ntnu.no/ethiopia/c16xSouthW%E4loMapFull.pdf, but I don't know if it is possible to find the mountain. On other maps, which show only the woredas of the Amhara Region and ignore the Oromia Zone, there is a sharp wedge-shaped area which reaches far into the west and which must be part of the Oromia Zone. But on the map I linked to above, there area directly vis-à-vis of Kemise is Ans'okiya. But I don't know if it is a woreda of it own. So maybe the maps can be helpful. Borkenna

Why did you delete the information about the Borkenna river? In fact it is very improtant because every year in during the rany season the plain south of Kemise is flooded by the water of the Borkenna. It marks also the fronter between Dawwey and Hartumma. Driss 08:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

I did? (Looks -- he's right.) I don't remember my reason why. It might have just been a mistake when I removed the erroneous reference to the mountain. Driss, I don't own this article; you are permitted -- if not encouraged -- to make edits & correct other people's mistakes here & everywhere on Wikipedia. I just added a photo which shows the Borkenna Valley and Kemise in the background. In fact Chefe is not a very good transcription because both vowels are a. But I also know that sometimes the latin/english transcritiptions even made by Ethiopians are not very precise. Driss 22:12, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Argobba language

I added some information concerning the Argobba language. Actually there are two (or three) villages where it is spoken as first language. Therefore to say it 'predominates Amharic' is misleading. These communities speak Argobba and use Oromo and Amharic only as second languages in the contact with outsiders. Driss (talk) 09:06, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem with your edit is that the source I quoted only applies to Shonke. It doesn't mention the other villages you added. Does the source you referred to mention both? If so, then let's drop the SIL link. -- llywrch (talk) 21:05, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the source mentions both villages. In fact, the language data on which the paper is based was produced by a man from T’ollaha. Shonke is better known because it is bigger and a little bit easier to acces than T'ollaha. Driss (talk) 21:43, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
