aue froupers help out at WP edit

This diambiguation page arose after discussion in alt.usage.english on the topics of various kinds of -mongery words. Those who looked up "cheesemonger" were led directly to the First Regiments of Life Guards page, with no explanation as to why. What is needed now is a page on cheesemongers (and there are ones on ironmongers and even such obsolete entities as feltmongers) and an explanation on the "Regiment" page as to why that nickname is used there. (Currently, there is a brief explanatory note to my question on that subject on the talk page there. Myles325a (talk) 07:30, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments. I don't have the necessary knowledge to create an article on cheesemongers, but I was hoping to add a few lines to the article on "cheese" explaining the term, since my first link currently points there with no further explanation. However it seems that the page is "semi-protected" (owing to previous vandalism) and I have to make ten edits from this account before I can edit it. This place is certainly bureaucratic! I've now passed my quota, so there's a short paragraph at the end of the introduction to "cheese" explaining the term. It could do with expansion into a full article though. GDBarry (talk) 10:42, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nicely done. I suppose it is only time before someone does write such an article. As for now, that space is singularly uncontaminated by cheese. Myles325a (talk) 07:31, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I went into my local cheesemonger's today and told them there was no Wikipedia article on the subject, and they seemed quite surprised. Maybe someone there will oblige! GDBarry (talk) 16:18, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
