Charles Manson and Manson Family

edit

I'm surprised there is nothing about Charles Manson and his "Family". They lived off Santa Susana Pass Road, about 1/3 of a mile west of Topanga Canyon Blvd. in the late 1960's (at the old Spahn Ranch). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.234.37.137 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 20 July 2007

You can add the information if you have the sources, which you can put right into the article if you don't know how to do the footnotes. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 23:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nuclear Meltdown and Local Cults

edit

There is no reference on this page to the nuclear meltdown in Simi Hills that exposed Chatsworth residents to large amounts of radiation over the span of two weeks, and which will not be cleaned up completely until 2017[1]. This was America's first and greatest nuclear meltdown (see above citation) and thus an important event in American history. The poorly known incident was actually a far greater disaster than the more widely publicized Three Mile Island meltdown[2]. It is true that the Simi Hills page does briefly reference this event, but I believe the meltdown's effects on Chatsworth deserve space on the town's own page.

There is also no reference to the mysterious Fountain of the World cult founded by Krishna Venta (real name Francis Heindswatzer Pencovick), which was a "precursor" to the cult The Family, led by the infamous Charles Manson (who is also not mentioned in this article)[3][4]. Because of the Fountain of The World's possible connection to Charles Manson's cult, and because of how both cults greatly affected Chatsworth, they very clearly deserve reference on this page.

Discuss reasons for reversion here

edit

If there's a valid reason for the recent reversion, please explain it here. Thanks. 72.244.206.51 (talk) 02:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

A message on my talk page suggests that Alexius08 (talk · contribs) reversion seen here was in error, perhaps due to an itchy Wikipedia:Huggle-trigger finger? :-) 72.244.206.51 (talk) 03:22, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chatsworth, Los AngelesChatsworth, Los Angeles, California Re; revert redirect from Chatsworth, Los Angeles back to Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California: Los Angeles needs California as other placenames/meanings in world also use los angeles. Most (all?) other towns & districts within city limits use all 3 eg: Playa Vista, Los Angeles, California. To maintain continuity of format for all L.A. town articles & ease editors efforts suggest leaving reversion (?). Need help reactivating it plzUser:Look2See1 20:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Neutral: While understanding a larger view now than when posting the 'movereq' above; I agree with User:Will Beback that a precedet setting decision for one of the world's largest city's deserves wider discussion and input. My posting the 'movereq' was due to lack of 'discussion width', leaving me unaware of changes (considered and done) even though very active with L.A. Districts' articles. Personally I do not find using the word 'notorious' and L.A. together by some 'change advocates' positive or a npov backup.
More transparency before further changes, with notification and 'auto-forwarding' of 'old 3 names' titles (in both article links and new searches) could avoid difficult startles. The Reseda, Los Angeles, California (OR Reseda, Los Angeles ?? eg: the 'crap shoot' problem for now...) has discussion on talk page of neighborhood vs. district vs. census-designated place (CDP). If the change is inevitable perhaps doing so in district name alphabetical order would take out random 'crap shoot' searching now (or explaining another system being used). WTF does "originally" mean?

edit

"Originally the area was home to Native Americans"

When? At the origin? The origin of what?

This doesn't make any sense at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eatmyskirt (talkcontribs) 14:39, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Surface measure

edit

The article says 35,073 residents in the 15.24-square-mile. Why do you use this archaic, out-of-date surface measure? Civilized peolpe use square kilometers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.219.19.130 (talk) 10:36, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Acres is the usual measurement in the United States and, besides, that is the measurement the source used. Yours, BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 23:32, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Naming of Chatsworth

edit

The source is clear that Chatsworth was named after the english estate Chatsworth House. The source does not dispute that it WAS named after Chatsworth House -- What they speculate on is WHY the community was named after Chatsworth House. (Perhaps the landscape of the San Fernando Valley reminded Barber of his home .... )

There are other sources that confirm the connection between Chatsworth, Ca and Chatsworth, England. (http://www.laalmanac.com/geography/ge13.php) Additionally...."Reflecting its English heritage, the Chatsworth Chamber of Commerce uses the Duke of Devonshire's coat-of-arms as its insignia with the permission of the 10th Duke." (http://www.californiadar.org/chapters/chatsworth/) Photo of chamber of commerce sign; (https://www.slideshare.net/ChatsworthHistory/chatsworth-timeline) Phatblackmama (talk) 21:23, 16 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
