Current status of former hotel

edit

In the article it mentions:

"As of January 2008, the hotel building still remains, however it is for all purposes abandoned. The condition inside the former hotel is unknown."

Is this based on personal observation, or was there an article about this somewhere? I've been extremely curious about this myself, the most recent status I saw was for 2006 (almost 3 years ago), where someone posted a series of photographs of Mirabel airport including several specifically of hotel. It looked more or less intact from the outside, however it was impossible to tell if its being regular maintained (heating, care of the gardens and trees in the atrium, minimal yearly repairs to keep it in a salvageable state, etc). I think I read, even back then, the hotel was still furnished! I'm wondering if it's still standing and what state it's in. Is it actually abandoned or just locked up and being kept on ice, so to speak?--Apple2gs (talk) 21:09, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

"July 2010 ADM hinted at a new tenant for the hotel and administration building. An announcement will be made fall 2010."
Anyone have an update on this? We're now into spring of 2011 and as far as I can tell, there never was any such announcement made. Has the ADM abandoned their plans? --Apple2gs (talk) 06:52, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Syscomax reopening?

edit

In February 2011 it was announced Syscomax was renovating and reopening the hotel, and that the entire project would be complete by the summer of 2012. It's nearly 2 years later and I cannot find a trace of news about the project. Even checked Syscomax's website under "news" and "projects", nothing is mentioned about Mirabel. Has the project been canceled? I updated the section to reflect the uncertainty but if anyone has any news to the contrary, please feel free to share it and make changes.---Apple2gs (talk) 03:43, 15 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is a noteworthy update. The TVA network did a televised segment on Mirabel Airport (click here for video) in terms of where the airport stands today. The former Chateau Mirabel hotel, filmed just three weeks ago, quite clearly is in a depleted and abandoned state. No work has started and has been left as-is since its closure over a decade ago. Clearly it will NOT be reopening by mid 2014 as the article states.
Furthermore, if you go to Syscomax website and look under their completed and in-progress projects (see here) you will not find the Chateau Mirabel hotel listed. A little more digging, I did find an article (click here) which states the renovation of the administration building next door is mostly complete, but the only mention of the hotel is the POSSIBILITY it too could be renovated...eventually...maybe. So for all in intents and purposes, as of February 2014 the Chateay Mirabel project has been indefinitely delayed or shelved. Personally speaking though, considering there's been 11 major hotel closures in Montreal in recent months, I can't imagine this project going through.--Apple2gs (talk) 21:42, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
