Talk:Charley Lloyd

This article should not have been deleted. While looking for news from Somalia this morning, I found accidentally, a long article on a fictional soap opera character: "Jessica Eugenia Buchanan." Meanwhile, the Charley Lloyd page was being deleted because, presumably, there is a "digit shortage" at Wikipedia, and space has to be kept available for fictional soap opera characters. Note that a neutral commentator (unknown to the original editor) stated about the Lloyd article: "I found out about Lloyd on a side trip to New Orleans. He is notable as being one of the foremost historical figures of that area if not the single foremost such figure. He is described not only online but in the brochure of the leading tourism agency of the region -- that citation has been added. If he had been a resident of a large met center in the north, he would have had statues and schools named after him. WP notability should be based on the relative contribution of an individual to his region or area, and with that in mind he should be considered notable." This all raises real questions about the deletion process, and the priorities at Wikipedia.Alexwanknitob (talk) 15:15, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
