Charles "Chuck" T. Powers was a 1965 graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, with a bachelors degree in technical journalism. He was active on the staff of the K-State Collegian daily student newspaper, serving as editor at the time of assination of President John F. Kennedy. He enjoyed a good beer and a good joke; his roommate was Jerry _____.

I think it is a daughter, Rachel.
It contains a reference to Powers being jailed and tortured by Idi Amin [correction: Milton Obote]. I read a story like this in Granta in the 80s. Could it be the same event?
Perhaps not. Instead, it is documented in “Inside a Ugandan Prison, a Nightmare Comes to Life” appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer on May 23, 1982. But I couldn't find it online.
