Signature edit

For many other historical figures, we have a signature. Messier's I found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/deepskyvideos/7361102960/sizes/o/ but I have no time or patience to trace it and to research whether it's public domain. Can someone please do that? It would need to be an SVG file eventually. CielProfond (talk) 18:42, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Napoleon edit

xkcd sent me here... The quote about the booklet for Napoleon makes it seem like a grave and terrible thing that Messier did. To me this seems just a piece of trivia. I don't think we need to be so dramatic about Messier using his observations to seek favour with the current ruler. KarlFrei (talk) 20:47, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
