I got the information about the accident from the Irish Times. There were several reports on the accident, which took place on 23 August 1860, in this newspaper over the following days, and I'm sure the names of those killed appear somewhere there. If you're rounding to whole numbers, it's certainly possible to have a 2 inch diameter and a 5 inch circumference. 1.7 * π = 5.34. Kaldari (talk) 03:10, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

It obviously doesn't matter exactly how much the diameter of the rope was. Whether the circumference was 5 in. or 6.28 in., it didn't make a difference to Blondin! JoJaEpp (talk) 06:22, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Death date
