Herald Sun Victoria

Does anyone have a source for HSV standing for "Herald Sun Victoria"? It seems very dubious to me, especially given that HWT themselves apparently say it was "Herald Sun Vision". fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 13:44, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

• I rang up Channel Seven, the lady said it had nothing to do with the Herald Sun and isn't called HSV-7 anymore. I asked what it stood for, she put me on hold and I listened to 10 minutes of the networks promos till I was hung up on. Grr, I'll go to the studios tomorrow and get some history fact sheets or something like that. Grr.. the things I do for love.   • Wow! That'd be great if you could find the time to do that. Re: the HSV-7 article, yes, it did say "Herald Sun Victoria" — but it was unsourced, and more or less implied that it was a backronym, so I deliberately left it out when merging. fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 13:30, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
    • HSV most definately stands for Herald Sun Vision as the HWT has said and as they owned the station for over 30 years they should know. Plus despite what that person said to James the station's legal calls are still HSV-7. PMA 14:03, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Okay, South Melbourne studios is production and the Docklands is administration and broadcasting. The studio on the Docklands has metal detectors. The channel Seven cafe is open monday to friday. They keep saying it's not HSV-7 anymore and it should be called Channel Seven Melbourne, but HSV-7 is still apart of the history of different ownership. The studio uses the most advance technology in the southern hemisphere. And yeah. Anyway, I'm confused with the whole HSV-7 thing, I keep getting different things so I'm going to shutup about it. --Jamesbehave 07:09, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

I still think this page should be moved back to HSV-7. Every other Australian tv station is on their callsign (and HSV-7 is their callsign, no matter what they tell you), so why shouldn't this? And there's a perfect example of this case with TVW-7 / Seven Perth. The callsign is the correct article title, while Seven Perth, the name they refer to themselves, is a redirect. • Yeah, you're sorting things into articles. HSV-7 related to ownership of the Melbourne station.. now it's on a network owned by a heap of shareholders and not owned by 1 Melbourne media source. Because the Seven Network broadcasts into all capital cities.. the studios are known by local city stations. And anyway, all Seven programming nation wide comes from broadcast centre in Melbourne.. which is named "Channel 7 Melbourne".. why would they call it HSV-7 when it streams into all major cities? So I say just forget this whole "call sign" stuff and stick with "Seven Sydney", "Seven Adelaide", etc. ~\--Jamesbehave 01:01, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

I also think the title of the article should be changed back to HSV-7 to keep itin line with the other Australian TV stations on this site. And has the article been completely re-written. I cannot remember when I last visited this page but it looks a lot different.

• Gah! Does it even matter? No one calls it HSV-7 anymore.. no one uses HSV-7 anymore, not the network, not the local station. Even on promotions it's "7 Melbourne". I've spoken to heaps of people who work for channel seven in Melbourne and they all say it shouldn't be called HSV-7 but "Channel Seven Melbourne" or "Channel 7 Melbourne".
