Wrong figures?

edit

There's something wrong with the figures... if 18 deputies make 21.20 % (others), how can 155 deputies make 36.60% (PSD) ? Bogdan | Talk 21:06, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

You're right - the figures were wrong. I've corrected them. -- ChrisO 21:35, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Something doesn't add up

edit

I'm having a bit of a problem with the math in the article, granted I am not the best mathematician in the world (or at all) but the article states that the Justice and Truth Alliance is the ruling party with 177 seats. The JTA is made up of the Democrat Party, the National Liberal Party, and the Minorities. That's 119 seats. Add to that their coalition partners the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania and that's 141, which isn't 177. That's also 42.8% not 47.9% Is there another party in the coalition not listed? If so, it would be a good idea to update the section with the current party numbers, or to fill in the party list with all the partners represented in the governing coalition. I got confused. I agree that this article is a little bit confusing, as is the political situation in Romania. In fact the Justice and Truth Aliance no longer exists because the liberals and democrats have splited up. Since then a new liberal party has been formed from the National Liberal Party: the Liberal Democratic Party (Romania) whose members are listed as independents (as the cannot form a group in the parliament). The minorities have never been part of the JTA but generally they support the government without being members of the government coalition. Today the government is a minority one the coalition consisting only of the Liberal Party and the DUHR for a total of 73 MP-s. It is an unstable situation and they try to get the support they need on individual laws. It seems that somehow it works.
I will try and update the list according to the chamber of deputies official site: this page which should list the actual composition of the political groups in the chamber. Mihai -talk 10:25, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
