Remove flags from the table List of chairmen edit

There is no reason to add Flag and Indian in every row of the table. A duplicate link is also a violation. Please refer to MOS:FLAGS and MOS:LINK. Please change FLAG "INDIAN NAVY" -> "Navy" and so on. Venkat TL (talk) 18:02, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Acting Chairman edit

@2405:205:1482:E419:0:0:111:28B1: The position of 'Chairman of the CoSC' has been tied to the position of CDS since January 2020. Since General Naravane is not the CDS as of 27 December 2021, he is therefore only acting as the Chairman of CoSC. The acting Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee does not automatically become the Chief of Defence Staff. There are some misleading media reports which have stated that General Naravane has been appointed as the CDS. But these reports are false. He has only been appointed as the Chairman of the CoSC. You cannot edit war (repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions in order to protect your preferred version of a page) your way out of this. Please discuss the issue here before many further reverts with regards to this dispute. Rockcodder (talk) 04:38, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

Even though it is his official image, I believe we should update his image. This is because this was before he was CoSC. AtishT20 (talk) 19:26, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand what the issue is here. Him as chairman doesn't look much different from his portrait as COAS. I believe MOS:IMAGEQUALITY applies: to use the clearest image that best represents the subject. For officeholders, this is usually their official portrait.
COSC chairmen hold their service chief position at the same time and thus, even before the CDS post was created, used the same official portrait as their service chief one. Again, I fail to see why the image should be changed. If it must happen, it should be when Naravane gets a new CDS portrait.
The same is true for the removal of the Indian Armed Forces crest when there is a parameter for insignia in the infobox as well as a flag. I fail to see why change is needed there. SuperWIKI (talk) 22:03, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I believe the image you're using is a screenshot. Per Commons policy, those are prohibited unless the video it's taken from is also public domain, which, by listing it as your own work, does not follow that policy. So it will likely be deleted anyway, leaving the infobox imageless. SuperWIKI (talk) 22:13, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

This talk page is meant to discuss edits and gain consensus on any disagreements. Your initial statement, by being on the talk page, invites discussion on the subject matter, regardless of whether you "didn't ask". I'll leave it at that. SuperWIKI (talk) 10:48, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Don't cry about it. It was a joke. Learn to take one. Fine I won't change it AtishT20 (talk) 13:57, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I also don't understand what your problem is. I just made a suggestion. As a wikipedia editor its your job to answer politely explaining to me why and not saying "I don't see what the issue is here" in a manner less tone. Very inconsiderate! AtishT20 (talk) 20:28, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
