Wrong

edit

This article needs to be updated. While the historical perspectives of Carothers and Flory is correct, the modern definition of chain-growth versus step-growth is based on molecular weight development during polymerization. This enables a mathematical framework to be broadly applied. An example of where the old definition fails is the thiol–ene polymerization reaction, which proceeds via a free-radical (addition) reaction, but the molecular weight builds geometrically (step-growth). The clear erroneous statement in the article is "unlike condensation polymerization (also known as step-growth polymerization)", which implies they are related and in fact they are two separate concepts.

Initiator

edit

There should be some comment on the fact that initiation can be done not only by heat but also light.

Spelling of polymerization

edit

I have no preference with regard to spelling, but it seems odd that the entire article uses the "z" convention (polymerization) but the article title uses the "s" (polymerisation). In fact, the article "Chain-growth polymerization" re-directs to "Chain-growth polymerisation" when it seems like it should be reversed since the article itself uses the opposite convention.
