Miscalculation edit

How could he be the grandson of Rabbi Abraham Azulai who died eighty years before he was born? I think you skipped a couple of generations there. AshcroftIleum (talk) 07:27, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

He was a great-great-grandson. This has been fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.104.71 (talk) 17:12, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Palestinian rabbi edit

Why would it be "misleading" to call Hidah a Palestinian rabbi? Chesdovi (talk) 01:38, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re-burial edit

How can you have any wiki about the Hida without discussing his re-burial in Israel? Someone is trying to re-write history on this page and I strongly suggest that you stop. This is my direct ancestor. Explain yourself.

I undid your edit, which was un-encyclopedical. I did add a sentence about his re-burial in Israel. Thank you for this information. Debresser (talk) 06:25, 24 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

a bit more about the re-burial edit

Surely a sentence stating that the re-burial took place deserves its own paragraph, and at least a second source. The Brooklyn-based Syrian Jewish magazine, Community, ran an article April '10, titled "From Italy to Jerusalem" URL http://www.communitym.com/article.asp?article_id=100755 Pi314m (talk) 06:50, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you find enough material to justify a separate paragraph, please feel free to make one, but as long as it is ust one sentence, no separate paragraph is needed. Debresser (talk) 14:54, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
3 sentences.
The "=Reburial in Israel=" header is the exact text used for The Affair of the Gang of Barbarians#Reburial in Israel about Ilan Halimi. Pi314m (talk) 00:31, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I see only one sentence in that article. Debresser (talk) 13:37, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Retain Chida Azulai spelling edit

It may be over-detailed for the article itself to explain why the Chida spelled his family name to match the source (Lev. 21:7), but it definitely becomes a matter of the above comment by a self-identified family member.

The explanation for removing the "modern" extra Aleph is, per the text that I added:
The modern/Israeli spelling of the last name is Azoulay, with an added Aleph before the ending Yud. Rabbi Azulai spelled it without that extra letter.
_ref_ ISBN 978-1-935949-03-9 (Volume 2,p.286), a textbook currently in use.

Ref#2: cover of Meir Benayahu's book, published by Mosad HaRav Kook, in Israel.

The parenthesized "Hebrew" name, spelled as did Rabbi Azulai, can have a notation, e.g. The Hebrew Azulai spelling is an acronym of five words in Lev. 21:7 Pi314m (talk) 05:50, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

So what is your point? Debresser (talk) 14:55, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Examples of using an example edit

re the undoing of my 2-Feb-2017 edit as "Not needed, not customary"

I certainly would agree with your "not needed, not customary"
if what I wrote had (this much) Abraham J. Twerski#Twerski on Twelve Steps and Jewish ethics.

Since what I added followed the customary indentation format, I welcome your feedback as to whether I should give another example or if the one I added 2-Feb-2017 suffices. Pi314m (talk) 10:40, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Another reason to retain this section is the quote: "a link between Sephardic and Ashkenazi Torah teachings, valuing and continuing the scholarship of both," Pi314m (talk) 06:00, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I removed the example, again, since 1. it is not needed 2. it does not add anything defining about the subject of the article. 3. the example is abstruse 4. the text included peacock terms. Debresser (talk) 07:22, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
