I have heard the obseravtion post story, unconfirmed. I have read in Tuchman's book that the destruction of the castle was supposed to be an example to the french of superior Deutsches Kultur and values. CJ DUB 04:36, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

That was a dry comment of hers which she clearly meant as an indirect inference rather than a claim based on evidence - AG, Stockport, UK.

Needs more text and better arrangement of images
