Copyvio?

How was it determined that this article infringes copyrights? I honestly don't know much about the company/topic, but comparing the old article and the claimed source there doesn't seem to be way too many similarities(other than some of the factual data(which if it's accurate on the supposed copied page, it would be the same information if found elsewhere)). Smeggysmeg 04:03, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

D'Oh! The link on the page wasn't the source of the copyright-infringing material. All but the last two sentences of the article are blatantly from [1]. Whosasking 07:09, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Searching the databases for sources, I find only one assertion I can't readily verify:
  • Sportswear - Cerberus acquired in May, 2005 Rafaela Sportswear, a women's apparel business in New York City. The company also controls Fila, an Italian footwear designer.

This article says they own "Rafaella Apparel Group Inc.". No info on the acquisition date. -- Cyrius| 21:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Chrysler

The sooner the New Chrysler Corporation can return to success and get free of this period of restructuring and forced austerity imposed by Cerberus; the better.JeepAssembler 18:44, 3 November 2007 (UTC)JeepAssemblerJeepAssembler 18:44, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Well JeepAssembler Good Luck .. They bought GDX in 2004 or so . Now it is scheduled for closer nov 30 th ..They sucked it dry and tossed it and its people (United steel workers ) to the street . —Preceding unsigned comment added by GDXEXile (talkcontribs) 00:36, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Much of the money used by Cerberus for the Chrysler deal came from a Chinese auto-concern. Basically Chrysler is a trojan horse for future chinese products and as it fails further will become a fully owned subsidiary . . . thanks to Cerberus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.74.222 (talk) 16:37, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Encyclopedic content must be verifiable, see: Wikipedia:Verifiability
The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiability" in this context means that readers should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed.
Wikipedia:Verifiability is one of Wikipedia's core content policies. The others are Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Jointly, these policies determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles. They should not be interpreted in isolation from one another, and editors should familiarize themselves with all three.

Fluffy

I have heard Cerberus called 'Fluffy' as a combination nickname/codename (investment bankers are not the most imaginative of people) and was wondering on its inclusion. Any comments? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mishabot (talkcontribs) 13:50, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

If you have good third-party verifiable source (see my comments above to: External links and References). Brokers and traders make up lots of nicknames for stocks and companies in the financial business. "WAMU" became so pervasive for Washington Mutual, because that was also its NASDAQ ticker symbol, "Mr. Softy" for MSFT, etc. But, in the grand scheme of things how important is that really in an encyclopedia? Doubt it means much outside the business and a few day-traders. IP4240207xx (talk) 20:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! Good point well made! (Mishabot (talk) 17:47, 29 May 2008 (UTC))

There was a three headed dog in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone...named "Fluffy". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.145.11.196 (talk) 05:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Cerberus on life-support???

Is Cerberus on life support? Its list of investments look like a list of disasters. Plus the Ezra Merkin mess. Plus the Madoff mess. Are there any news reports about considerations for it to be wound up??? Surely its investors must be screaming to get their money back before more of it disappears. I think I've read this somewhere. Any help on this from people who know news reports on Cerberus better than I do?? Thanks in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.161.19 (talk) 05:41, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Updates to Cerberus' Wikipedia Entry

My name is Mike Schuler and I am writing in my capacity as vice president of external affairs at Cerberus Capital Management L.P. regarding this article.

I have corresponded with Robert Johnson and Joe Daly of Wikipedia over the past several months regarding our intention to update this article to reflect more accurate information, and last week received Mr. Johnson’s approval for us to post our updates to the entry.

The purpose of these updates is to make the entry more accurate, better sourced and, importantly, to add more information in order to bring it in line with Wikipedia's Suggested Template for investment firms like Cerberus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Finance/PrivateEquity/SamplePEfirm. The updates to our entry would also ensure that it mirrors the format of peer firms.

In terms of the updates, we propose including more content to align the Cerberus entry to the template and the entries of peer firms. Specifically, that would include adding sections on Cerberus’: -specialties/areas of focus; -key people; -assets/funds under management; -recent transactions and initiatives (in reverse chronological order); and -notable acquisitions/exits by sector.

We also plan to add additional important information to the history of the firm and update incorrect information on the site such as the names of the founders; assets under management; website URLs; and dates of transactions.

Please note that these updates will have citations and will be made in accordance with Wikipedia’s rules and guidelines and in keeping with Wikipedia’s “neutral point of view” policy.

I’m posting this here on the discussion tab to be transparent about our intensions. We plan to make the updates on May 10.

I look forward to increasing the accuracy of the Cerberus Capital Management Wikipedia entry and conforming it to Wikipedia’s template and the entries of our peers.

Thank you. Emschulerccm (talk) 16:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Retail Expansion with potential acquisition of Harris Teeter; Precursor of Grocer roll-up

Charlotte, SC based Harris Teeter reported by local media as a takeover candidate. Also, speculation of expansion of Publix into the Carolinas will bring new dynamics to the market.--Wikipietime (talk) 04:33, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
