Copyright cleanup

Today, this article was edited to remove contributions by a contributor currently indefinitely blocked for multiple copyright infringements. The text removed may infringe the copyright of external sources or of Wikipedia's contributors. Wikipedia's copyright policy sets out the conditions under which material may be reused from external sites or from other Wikipedia pages. Please verify before restoring any of this text that it is not copied from any other website. If it is copied from within Wikipedia, it may be restored if proper attribution is provided. Generally, it is judged sufficient to include a direct link within the edit summary to the original article, explaining the point of origin. For example, such an edit summary might read, "Text copied from [[source article]]." It is also helpful to place the template {{copied}} on the talk pages of both the source and the destination articles to indicate that extensive duplication has taken place. The basic usage of that template is {{copied|to=name of this article|from=name of article from which material was taken|diff=permanent url of edit when material was added}}. I am sorry to other contributors of this article for any inconvenience this clean-up may cause. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:12, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Lead image

Hello A. Savin. The image by Nataraja [link] is preferred in my opinion, since the view is not obstructed by objects in the foreround and the perspective provides a clearer illustration of the town as a whole. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 22:48, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Whatever may be obstructed in your opinion, in total you can see more on the new pic. --A.Savin (talk) 00:23, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
You cannot see the Sacred Tooth Temple on the old photo. --A.Savin (talk) 00:24, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Replaced with a more recent better quality image. Dan arndt (talk) 07:53, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Agreed. 1292simon (talk) 08:34, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
@Dan arndt: Can you explain what do you mean by "a more recent better quality image", please? --A.Savin (talk) 12:49, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
I meant that the Nataraja image was taken 15years ago and the current one is more recent. The current image also provides a clearer panoramic of the city, including the temple of the tooth. Dan arndt (talk) 13:32, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
How does this not apply to my image too? --A.Savin (talk) 14:17, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Of the three images the VH99 image is the best as it doesn't have too much of the viewing area in the foreground and it has a better view of the mountain peaks in the background. We need to remember that this article is about the entire Central Province, not the tourist attractions in Kandy (such as the Sacred Tooth Temple) or even the city of Kandy, and the mountains are an intrinsic part of the province.--Obi2canibe (talk) 16:04, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

And what exactly is, in your opinion, visible on VH99 image and at the same time not visible on mine? --A.Savin (talk) 21:56, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Why do you repeatedly ignore the advice of Administrators to take the issue to the article's talk page rather than consistently reverting the image. You are clearly and blatant ignoring WP:3RR. Dan arndt (talk) 02:20, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Arguments over? Nothing to say? Indeed, best time to run to mama admins. --A.Savin (talk) 02:32, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Maybe if you kept your arguments civil rather then attacking everyone who disagrees with the your dogmatic views then you might find people would respond in kind. Dan arndt (talk) 02:50, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

I would like to ask further members of Sri Lanka wikiproject for opinion, which of the three Kandy Lake photos (or an other one) should be in the infobox of this article. @Abishe, Blackknight12, ChanakaW, Chanakal, Gihan Jayaweera, and LionCountry25:, @Muhandes, Sobreira, Roundtheworld, Prabhupuducherry, Cossde, and Janakacombank:, Thanks. --A.Savin (talk) 14:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

I preferred Savin's image, as it clearly show the whole background along with the most important icon-Temple of Tooth. But in the nataraja's one, Temple of tooth is absent. So my opinion is, if you are showing Kandy, Temple of tooth should be there. Gihan Jayaweera (talk) 08:47, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Gihan Jayaweera noting that the VH99 image actually provides a greater panorama of Kandy, including the temple of the tooth. Dan arndt (talk) 03:10, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
What do you mean by greater panorama? I guess it shall mean that more places are visible on VH99 image -- could you specify what exactly? For my part, when juxtaposing both pictures, I see that my image depicts more. (I already asked the same question above, but no response so far.) --A.Savin (talk) 13:28, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Any photography cannot cover entire CP unless satellite image or map. I suggest to remove Kandy lake. --AntanO 03:12, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
AntanO that could work - hopefully this could be the potential solution to this current disagreement. Dan arndt (talk) 04:03, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
AntanO's suggestion sounds like a good idea to me. If there is an image of the flag or coat of arms, perhaps that could be included. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 10:46, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
