Structure of the article edit

I propose to model this article about a province to another articles about states and provinces in Wikipedia (e.g. British Columbia, Queensland, and Virginia). BTW I wonder whether there will be some kind of template about this ... Anywaya, the topics dealt which will be dealt with are roughly:

  1. Geography
    1. Administrative division
  2. History
  3. Demographics
  4. Culture and language
  5. Politics
  6. Economy
  7. Transportation
  8. Nature (Wildlife, national parks etc)
  9. Tourism and recreation
  10. Symbols of the province
  11. Education
  12. Trivia
  13. See also

Well what do you think? Meursault2004 10:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good, but from my experience, 'History' seems to come first in geographic articles, although perhaps that is different for province/state articles. Also, we really don't want 'trivia'. If something is trivial, it doesn't belong in an encyclopedia. If it is not trivial, ie, notable, we can fit it into one of the other sections. :). Merbabu 10:39, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK let's remove the trivia section. Yes I think it is different for province/state articles. As for countries, history indeed comes first before geography. But we can always move the sections later as long as we can set up a basic structure. Meursault2004 10:57, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, sounds reasonable re geog sec first.Merbabu 11:17, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Once the article is fleshed out - or rather written, since there's barely an outline yet! - maybe the list of Regencies could be moved to a separate "Regencies of Central Java" article? -- Danny Yee 11:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes that is possible or it is also worth considering to create a template and place it underneath the article. Meursault2004 12:46, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would support making a separate article/ or template (as long as it was not too big) SatuSuro 07:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Size of the article edit

The article will exceed 32 kb I am afraid. It now stands at more than 20 kb. Shall we allow this to happen? Meursault2004 06:41, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is what collab should be. :-) Don't worry about the size. Reducing is much easier than adding materials. — Indon (reply) — 07:03, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why my picture is deleted? Wong Jawa 22:50, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nobody deleted your picture, but because of the picture does not compatible with Wikipedia licences, it was automatically speedy deleted. Please read carefully about WP:TAG. FYI, this wikipedia is very strict about image license. — Indon (reply) — 08:19, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Section edit

So almost done. Still need to do "Economy" and "Tourism". Economy is a bit hard. I have to find more information about the employment of Central Javanese population. Meursault2004 23:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chinese Javanese edit

The areas that are densely populated by Chinese Indonesian, are called Pecinan, which has a meaning China Town. One of the popular Pecinan in Central Java is Jalan Pemuda and its surrounding in Magelang

From my personal experience the Chinese are not confined in Chinatowns in Central Java. Why have you taken Magelang as an example? I think there are better examples such as the Chinatown in Semarang or even Lasem. Meursault2004 23:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Coatarms jateng.gif edit

Image:Coatarms jateng.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:24, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Etymology section edit

Do we need this? It discusses the etymology of Java as a whole, not "Central Java", and therefore surely belongs in the Java article. Removing it would make the article shorter, even if a soon-to-be-added section on the autonomous region of Central Java (1949-50) is included. Any objections? Davidelit (Talk) 04:54, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yeah - seems like the "Central" isn't really a name in particular. Juxlos (talk) 08:48, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
