IPA of "Celine"

While I'm aware this has a source, nonetheless, I find this pronunciation extremely dubious. It is neither the standard French pronunciation, nor is it the pronunciation I have heard every native English speaker use which is more like sə'li:n . It reads as a prescriptivist attempt to force English speakers to mimic the French pronunciation in an Anglicised manner which, although is sometimes common (like René, I'm sure), I've personally never heard anyone use this pronunciation in any seriousness. Even in interviews (in English), I can't find a single case where she's been introduced with anything remotely resembling this pronunciation. Can anyone provide a justification beyond the fact that it has a source? - 89.36.70.176 (talk) 23:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Misleading part in artistry tab should be removed

She has also expressed admiration for artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Madonna, citing the former two as having a profound influence on her own vocal style.[216]

This is misleading since in the source given she never cites "the former two as having a profound influence on her own vocal style". Also, videos containing just simple admiration words shouldn't be included in any way as they don't reflect anything. Kal856 (talk) 07:54, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Celine Dion "Queen Of Power Ballads"

Celine is the queen of power ballads, it deserves to be put here, she has been dubbed with that nickname and there's a lot of reliable sources to confirm it such as MTV/Daily Maily UK etc. Moonlight Entm (talk) 22:46, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

is she? (CC) Tbhotch 01:25, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Pronunciation

Consider making the names consistent within the pronunciation (either with, or without, Dion's middle names). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 51.9.7.102 (talk) 08:17, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

The name in the title is spelled as Celine Dion; it should be Céline Dion, with an accent 2A02:6B61:70EE:0:F854:C01:380F:3CA1 (talk) 19:08, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

The current consensus is to use "Celine Dion", without the diacritical mark on the "e", in the article title. Under the English-language Wikipedia's guidelines for article titles, it is preferred to use the most common name and spelling, as determined by its prevalence in reliable English-language sources. Even Ms. Dion herself officially spells her name without the accent in most of her English-language material. (Copied from the informational notice at the top of the page.) If you think that should change, you would need to demonstrate that such sources predominantly spell her name with the accented é. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 19:44, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Change the picture!

I would like to recommend changing the picture at the beginning of the article/page. It would be better if we change the photo with a better one. Thank you! Loibird90 (talk) 10:27, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Replace infobox image

Proposed image replacement

The current infobox image looks grainy and low quality. Plus the mic is in the way. I feel that this image has a better quality and best suited for the infobox. Thoughts? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 11:03, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

Best-selling contemporary female artist

Celine Dion was the best selling artist of the 1990s. However according to Guinness World Records, “Since 1983, Madonna (USA, b. Madonna Ciccone) has sold an estimated 335 million albums and singles (including digital tracks) worldwide”, making her the best-selling female recording artist of all time. Madonna is considered a contemporary music artist. Link: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/best-selling-female-recording-artist Phạm Huy Thông (talk) 04:09, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

the vast majority of those sales were singles - and Guiness' source for their statement is very questionable, as many articles on truly tracking down what has sold, what has shipped but not sold, etc. etc. are out there 50.111.31.194 (talk) 23:59, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Your source did not state Madonna as the best selling contemporary artist nor did it state Madonna as a contemporary artist. She is a pop artist. It will remain as it is until you can provide better source. Thank you. Loibird90 (talk) 11:41, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

Father

Why isn't her father Adhémar-Charles Dion listed along with the mother in the box that has "Parent"? He is listed on the mother's Wikipedia page as Celine's father. Wickorama (talk) 03:43, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
