Talk:Celaya massacre

Title

I think the title should be changed to something like ‘Celaya Attack’ or something like that. I haven’t seen any sources describe it as a massacre and because they used petrol bombs and it was in multiple places it isn’t really a shooting. Grey13z (talk) 17:38, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ref 2 Independent has Celaya massacre in its title. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 18:01, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I still think it shouldn't be called a massacre, because in 2022 New York City Subway attack the title says attack because of the use of smoke bombs, and in this incident there were molotov cocktails and fires started so it's less of a massacre or shooting and more of an attack. Massacre & attack don't specify the method. For example, there was no shooting involved in the Bologna massacre. The multiple method of attack is why I didn't use shooting in this article's title. The NYC attack can't have massacre in its title because it wasn't fatal. The use of smoke grenades in that is the argument against naming it shooting rather than attack. I still don't think it should be considered a massacre, as it was gang-related and the purpose of the attack was not solely about killing innocent people, and more related to gangs. If you can think of a better term than massacre that would be amazing, but at the moment all I can think of is attack. Grey13z (talk) 20:28, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Many massacres are gang-related, including many previous mass murders of the Mexican drug war which have massacre in their titles. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 21:36, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, massacres can have a wide variety of targets, and several RS describe this attack as a massacre. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 09:35, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
