Cecil Roth's work long overtaken by better information
editIt should be obvious that, whatever respect we hold for Cecil Roth's scholarship, some of his work has been completely overtaken by later research. 86.159.70.117 (talk) 22:32, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Why the Sir?
editI can't find any reference to Cecil Roth being either a knight or a baronet. Most sources - including this New York Times obit (https://www.nytimes.com/1970/06/22/archives/dr-cecil-roth-71-historian-is-dead-briton-was-editor-in-chief-of.html) refer to him as Dr. Roth.
