"Considering the general equality of talent at the high school level, her feat betters the Major League record for strikeouts in a game shared by Roger Clemens and Kerry Wood at 20."

This makes absolutely no sense at all. Obviously, Cat Osterman is a great pitcher and there's no denying that a 21 K perfect game is an amazing feat. However, making a comparison against MLB record (and claiming "relative" superiority) based on a very ambiguous claim such as "general equality of talent" is dubious at best.

The fact only two pitchers have stuck out 20 batters in an MLB game with 100+ years of history, while more than 10 (according to this article) pitchers have stuck out more than 30 batters in a high school softball game directly contradicts such claim of "general equality of talent" in high school softball.

I am going to edit the article so that Cat Osterman's amazing feats are presented to stand on their own with no questionable comparisons to MLB feats. Jxyama 04:28, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

While I agree that that is a dubious statement, you can't base its merits on the "100+ years" of MLB history, when there are far, far, far more games played in HS softball (based on the # of teams which exist vs. the number of MLB teams). In other words, even though the MLB has 100+ years, they still have a smaller sampling of games. 10 July 2007

2008 Bejing Olympics

Someone should add to this article the current Olympiad and the no-hitter that she threw against the Australian team. My only question is if a no-hitter has been thrown in Olympic Softball before, and if so, who pitched the game against whom, and if said game was a no-hitter or a perfect game. I'd do this myself but I'm tired, need to go to bed. And here's a link to the related story: [1] 24.63.200.114 (talk) 06:58, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

2006 World Championships in Beijing

Cat's amazing performance in this tournament is completely missing. I'll write it when I find the time, or someone else can add it. From memory, Cat pitched in 6 of Team USA's 10 games, and had to win a double-header on the final day to win the Gold Medal. I believe Cat defeated Australia in the bronze medal game and then later that day shut out Japan in the Gold Medal game (defeating Yukiko Ueno). Cat said, in an interview on ESPN during the 2010 World Cup, this was her greatest performance, or words to that effect. Dj paige (talk) 20:41, 30 November 2010 (UTC) Paige MillerReply
