From article edit

Stranded with Cash Peters has been cancelled by the Travel Channel (Discovery Networks) and there is a grassroots campaign to have the show put back on the air. The suggested routes are through email: pat_younge@discovery.com or go to http://travel.discovery.com/ to lodge dissatisfaction with their decision. The goal is for them to reverse this decision.

Up All Night 18 August 2010 edit

Listening to the BBC Radio 5 programme Up All Night, I heard Cash Peters and Rhod Sharp discussing Wikipedia, with Cash Peters saying that he had edited his article, and Sharp's, to make them more interesting. He also mentioned changing other articles. The account in question is clearly Monkeynuts54 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). None of the additional material was properly referenced and in the light of the radio discussion, I have reverted this article to an older version, before the recent series of edits. In a spirit of "assume good faith" and based on it being possible to source at least some of the added material, I'm working to add some of it back - I hope others will join in to help me.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 10:05, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm having a look to see what else I can find. There's mention of a Peabody Award in 2002 for "Marketplace" (which I assume is Marketplace (radio program), but the closest I can find at the moment is an award for the show in 2000 with no specific mention of Cash Peters himself. A new editor named Wellboy54 (talk · contribs) removed that info with an edit summary stating that he is Cash, which after a quick email I can confirm is the case. So that's that one sorted out. Alzarian16 (talk) 20:42, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
So who is this new editor User:Sognid'oro? Seems very engaged on this page and this page only. AdventurousMe (talk) 16:14, 25 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Operation Parallax edit

This section was (appropriately) temporarily removed by Bencherlite pending sourcing, and I've temporarily put it back with a couple of sources. However, I'm not completely happy as the sources I have so far don't confirm all the details and - perhaps critically - they do not confirm Cash Peters' involvement. I have absolutely no reason to doubt that he was the instigator, and his publicly stated involvement in editing the article would tend to confirm that. But in a spirit of "assume good faith" I added this section back verbatim while working to find better sources.

One bit in particular that needs sourcing is the Sunday Times accolade. This might be harder to confirm than in the past, since they've put themselves behind a paywall. But maybe someone with access can confirm it?--Jimbo Wales (talk) 10:05, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

This worries me a little. It seems that not one other site has mentioned Mr Peters' involvement. In this case it's probably reasonable to assume that it's true, but given the importance of WP:V as a policy it raises a possibly dangerous precedent. As for the Sunday Times award, the results are much the same: this article, and one where the phrases appear independently. The event clearly happened, but the details of it are proving difficult to verify. On the other hand, both this and Rhod Sharp have been improved as a result of this series of events, so it's not all bad news by any means. Alzarian16 (talk) 12:59, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

COI editing - User Sognid'oro edit

It looks like User:Sognid'oro has a WP:COI, probably autobiographising. Sigh. Warned and noted here. AdventurousMe (talk) 15:14, 26 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bibliography edit

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. Feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 05:38, 24 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
