This introduction lacks a strong introduction, as well as the structure mandated in a good Wikipedia article. More pictures to engage the reader would also help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oasalehm (talkcontribs) 13:39, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Citations edit

There are no citations for this article. A potential paper that could be used for this is "Sonar observations of killer whales (Orcinus orca) feeding on herring schools" (Similä 1997). Similä article Kdub828 (talk) 18:55, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Illustration edit

This article would benefit from some pictures and even a video of the technique. Kdub828 (talk) 18:54, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Overall Content edit

This article contradicts itself by initially saying that it's "commonly employed by orcas" followed by "carousel feeding has only been documented in the Norwegian orca population". I would think this makes it a rare occurrence. More detail needs to be added. Is it one family of orcas or multiple who employ this technique? Are there other countries/areas where this technique has been witnessed? What is the range of these orcas who employ this technique? What about the bubbles or the "white undersides" causes the fish to round into a ball? Is it really only salmon or herring? How/why is this technique only used by a specific group? The post lacks overall the amount of information necessary. There is unclear pronoun reference in the Intro, and cooperation among orcas is addressed for less than a sentence. The overall paper is devoid of true value due to its lack of adequate information, structure, and grammar. While more pictures would help the article, it is clear that more sub sections are most definitely needed in addition to a better depiction of Carousel Feeding via the Intro through details that attract the reader, rather than an address with regards to an unclear premise of cooperation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oasalehm (talkcontribs) 13:42, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree with what Kdub828 said. Also, another minor suggestion I have is perhaps you could split your information into paragraphs. (As this is just a draft I'm sure you were planning on doing this as you add more information, though.) I think it would help the information flow better. New sections and edits edit

I edited the lead section to make more sense and split the article up into three sections, herding, feeding and ecological impacts. If anyone has more ideas let me know. I also added a lot of new sources, some of them created separate citations for the same source so I'll work on fixing that. I tried to take into account everyone's ideas on the talk page for the new article draft so hopefully we can continue to improve the carousel feeding article.
