Tonight Show appearance

edit

"Curiously, in her last interview on The Tonight Show, Wayne told Johnny Carson that she couldn't swim."

She said that in the context of talking about her new movie, Surf II, comparing herself to Annette Funicello.

Johnny: What do you play in the film?
Carol: A mother.
J: Really?
C: Yeah!
J: Oh, well that's nice.
C: Yeah. I'm Annette Funicello all growed up!
J: (mumbling something)
C: I can't swim though.

So it was hardly "curious", just coincidental.72.67.93.133 (talk) 03:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

As has been raised at David E Durston and Diane Linkletter, the Durston in question is refered in sources as car salesman Edward Durston.94.126.214.7 (talk) 08:19, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The career section says "She gained her greatest fame for appearances (1967–1984) on The Tonight Show,[4] including 100-plus appearances (1971–1984) as the buxom Matinée Lady..." The personal life section says "Wayne told Johnny Carson in an interview on April 30, 1974, one of 38 appearances..." If it was the 38th appearance it should say that. If the exact number is unknown it should say it was one of her first 50 appearances. 38 is unencyclopedic unless it was the 38th. If she made 100-pluss it was certainly one of her over 100 appearances. 2600:8807:5400:28F0:AC76:E730:61B3:64B0 (talk) 14:08, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
