Marriages

There are two marriages now listed. Both have valid sources (second spouse's obituary, news reports of first marriage). However there is no divorce or spouse death information for the first spouse. Any ideas? Rod mcinnes (talk) 02:54, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Teblick, No problems. I see your interest is in old time performers, of which Carol Raye is an important one. I knew her second husband, but knew nothing of her first, so your contributions were appreciated, but I needed to add to them to provide the full picture. I've also tried to source as many of her performance listings as possible.

I have an interest in parks and theatres called "Cremorne", but has led me down a similar path to yours in tracking performers and producers.

Rod mcinnes, I commend you on wanting to add more information about Carol Raye. I try to do that for various entertainers' articles as I come across appropriate information. Let me suggest a couple of Web sites that might help, if you have not already tried them.

• Media History Digital Library, also referred to as Lantern, provides a search interface for many old magazines that contain information about entertainers as well as film, radio, and television. The publication files themselves are housed at the Internet Archive.

cAmericanRadioHistory.com also features old magazines. Some overlap exists between its periodicals and those at the first site, but this site focuses more on radio and television. A site-wide search engine is available, but using a particular publication's search engine is much faster.

In Australia we have:

• the Austage Database and
• the Australian Variety Theatre Archive

Neither of those sources work for my current problem, as the weddings were in England, so I'll take up your suggestions. I should search out the equivalent celebrity magazine sources here (We have Trove for many newspapers and some magazines, but none of the celebrity / theatre ones like you refer).
