Fair use rationale for Image:Cruz-diez.jpg edit

Image:Cruz-diez.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

There is no accent on the i in Diez edit

This is per public sources -- the artist's webpage and his foundation's webpage -- and also confirmed today by personal communication with the foundation's director (Nicole Schindler).

I edited it out of the body of the article, but how does one change the title? Gould363 (talk) 04:15, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

This will require administrator intervention, I asked for it and it should be provided soon. --Muhandes (talk) 21:25, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Bravo, thank you! Gould363 (talk) 22:37, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

"one of the greatest..." edit

I'm wondering, whether this text does go conform with the rule that one has to write in an objective and neutral tone: "is a Venezuelan artist considered to be one of the greatest artistic innovators of the 20th and 21st centuries.[1]" - the quote is from an advertising text for a book on him - as the reference explains. I don't think that in an encyclopedia we should accept such marketing-speech. --Gyanda (talk) 11:48, 10 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

COPYVIO edit

Complete scrub of this article needed, multiple issues of copyvio, dating to at least 2012, including but not limited to:

@SandyGeorgia: nice to see you again, what's the procedure now? A new article has to be written?--MaoGo (talk) 23:53, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi, MaoGo, not back, but I saw blatant cut-and-paste copyvio when trying to explain to a friend how significant Cruz-Diez was, and can't let that stand :) First, all of the copyvio has to be detected: when I found three examples of cut-and-paste, I decided it was too much for me to take on, and I have not checked every sentence. (It was easy to tell there was copyvio because the writing was at a very sophisticated level.) Based on this post, an admin will have to scrub the history, since the copyvio goes back so many years. Anyone who is up for determining all of the copyvio can begin to rewrite the copyvio sections, but I am concerned about how extensive it is. If the article is researched to detect all copyvio, and rewritten to remove copyvio, then the copyvio tag can be moved to the bottom until an admin can review and revdel the copyvio. Saludos, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:14, 29 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I recommend Earwig's Copyvio Detector. I should also point out that I nominated the article for WP:ITN as a Recent Death. --Jamez42 (talk) 12:00, 29 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Great. And so while all this crap is in process, no-one can now look at the original article!

Copyright violation is serious business. But if you want to read the copyvio, it is right here. If you are interested in speeding up the process, you can go here. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:36, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm against this type of intrusive templates, what is the point to hide basic info of the subject? I doubt the fact that he was born in Venezuela and died in Paris is copyrighted. --Oscar_. (talk) 15:30, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is at least any admin already dealing with this article? Is this article listed in some admin task list? This is a truly important article. --MaoGo (talk) 05:43, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Needs more information edit

Has there ever been a biography or something for this guy? Unfortunate that it's just a list of exhibitions, no real prose to read through. Something to work on if anyone has sourcing or info to share. The Way of the Fewture (talk) 19:18, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
