Copyvio, tone, guidebook edit

Hi. I sought to raise these concerns on the talkpage of the involved user. However, as I have had no response there, I am going to open a thread here. In case, perhaps, the other messages were overlooked. In short, the continued addition of copyvio, guidebook and NPOV text is incompatible with project norms for:

  • Copyright - The content added seems to be copied and pasted from various sources on the internet. Like this Geocities page archived in 2009 and from Wikivoyage. Copying and pasting content from other sources (without consideration to copyright or credit) is incompatible with project norms.
  • Scope - The content added is not compatible with project scope. Wikipedia is not Wikivoyage. Text about where to get a taxi or where to drop your heavy luggage is not in scope of this project.
  • Tone - The content added is heavily flowery and subjective in tone. Without any indication about whose opinion is being represented. Statements like "viewing of various gaily painted boats rested on the white sand can be a glowing experience" are entirely inappropriate to the neutral and encyclopedic tone expected.
  • Promotion - The content added is overtly promotional. For both the tourism sites in the area. And the businesses which service tourism in the area. Statements like "From batteries to televisions they have it at {a shop I am promoting}", are entirely at odds with the relevant SPAM and ADVERT guidelines.

Involved editors are encouraged to review the relevant guidelines. Continually reposting copyvio and promotional content may result in escalation under related editing guidelines. Guliolopez (talk) 16:07, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
