Zimmerman's obituary published on Legacy. I recommend seeking out more reliable sources than an obituary but I think there's some information worth following up on here
"I Remember Carl Zimmerman" from the Milwaukee Broadcasting Museum. This video is nearly a half-hour long and features many people sharing memories of Zimmerman.

Ronald Snyder's thesis on Harold Breier. Breier was the police chief of Milwaukee until 1984, and Zimmerman was reportedly none too fond of him. According to MJS, "Several times he called on Police Chief Harold Breier to resign. Years earlier, he had written an editorial endorsing Breier for chief." Unfortunately, the linked PDF is a scan of a physical document so it's not searchable.
