Magic theory articles

edit

I think there should be a number of articles on the basic concepts of Magic theory. Card advantage and tempo definitely deserve articles. I don't think these should be hugely in depth, but they should talk about them at least somewhat. They're certainly notable, being the subject of numerous articles. MTG or General?

edit

The way this article opens up, "Card advantage (often abbreviated CA) is a term used in collectible card game strategy," indicates that the article that follows is going to be about "collectible card game strategy" and not the more specific "Magic The Gatherings strategy."

I would like to see the article become more general about card games rather than specific to MTG. Spots of specificity include:

  • "The concept was first discovered early in the history of Magic: The Gathering strategy"
  • "if a player casts Ancestral Recall, a spell that"
  • "If a player plays Plague Wind, a card which destroys all enemy creatures in play"
  • The entire "Forms of card advantage" section.

If we would like to have an article specifically on Card Advantage for Magic the Gatherings then the route taken by the Tempo article for MTG should be used. The Tempo article for MTG adds (Magic: The Gathering) to the end.

Missing Forms

edit

I'm not sure if this is too in-depth or if would lead to the problem a previous editor had in the article being too MtG-specific but the article seems to focus on literal card drawing. I think adding to the first example in the "forms of card advantage" section in explain ways to have more cards to play without literally drawing cards would be useful (the best example of this I can think of is being able to play a card from your graveyard, meaning that while you have seven cards in hand and haven't drawn anymore, you effectively have eight cards you can play).
